On the morning of March 29th, Saigon Port buzzed with the sound of ship horns, marking the first voyage of "Phu Quy Express" from the heart of Ho Chi Minh City to the legendary Con Dao Island. Completely different from previous routes, which departed from distant locations like Vung Tau or Soc Trang, the ability to board the ship right in the center of District 4 sparked curiosity and excitement among travelers.
The prime location of Saigon Port, just 10-15 minutes from the inner city districts, has created an undeniable competitive advantage. Coupled with attractive ticket prices, only half the cost of airfare, "Phu Quy Express" quickly became the focus of attention for those planning a trip to Con Dao.
On the morning of March 29th, the Phu Quy Express high-speed ferry officially launched its first trip from Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao Island.
Previously, in May 2024, the high-speed ferry route from Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao was launched; however, the departure point was located at Hiep Phuoc port in Nha Be district. Despite being highly rated for speed and quality, this route faced significant obstacles regarding the distance from the city center to the port, as well as inconveniences in the transfer process.
Now, with "Phu Quy Express" departing from Saigon Port, those difficulties have been completely resolved. Passengers no longer have to worry about long journeys or long waiting times, but can easily access the ship and begin their journey.
The fact that it's possible to start right from the center of District 4, without having to go all the way to Vung Tau or Soc Trang, has sparked curiosity and excitement among many people.
"Phú Quý Express" boasts a modern design, measuring 39 meters in length and 11 meters in width, with a capacity of up to 374 passengers, including 279 sleeping berths. The passenger cabins are equipped with comfortable leather seats, privacy curtains, convenient power outlets, and compartments for safety life vests. Each deck features entertainment televisions, clean restrooms, a fire safety system, and surveillance cameras to ensure security.
Additionally, the ship features separate premium seating areas, along with a canteen serving snacks and drinks to meet passengers' needs throughout the journey. The second deck is designed with an open space, allowing passengers to admire the expansive sea views and enjoy the fresh air.
Tourists are excited to experience the high-speed ferry route from the center of Saigon to Con Dao.
Regarding ticket prices, the company has proposed the cheapest fares for weekday seats (Monday to Thursday) at 720,000 VND/ticket for people with disabilities; 810,000 VND/ticket for senior citizens and children; and 990,000 VND/ticket for general admission. For sleeper berths, the price will be 800,000 VND/ticket for people with disabilities; 970,000 VND/ticket for children and senior citizens; and 1,150,000 VND/ticket for general admission. VIP sleeper berths on weekdays are priced at 1,250,000 VND/ticket. Weekend fares are higher, with seat tickets ranging from 790,000 to 1,090,000 VND/ticket. Sleeper berths range from 880,000 to 1,370,000 VND/ticket.
Children, senior citizens, and people with disabilities are subject to separate preferential pricing policies. The ticket price includes taxes, port fees, and electric shuttle service from the entrance to the ship. In particular, the use of electronic tickets makes the payment and boarding process faster and more convenient.
The ship was equipped with modern facilities.
Compared to airfare from Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao, which typically ranges around 2 million VND per one-way trip, the "Phu Quy Express" high-speed ferry offers a significantly more economical option. However, the travel time of approximately 6 hours and 50 minutes, longer than the initially expected 5 hours and 30 minutes, may be a factor that causes some people to hesitate.
According to the operator, the journey takes approximately 5 hours and 30 minutes.
Nevertheless, with its modern amenities, reasonable prices, and convenient departure location, "Phu Quy Express" remains a worthwhile option for those who want to explore the beauty of Con Dao. Relaxing on the boat, gazing at the vast ocean, and enjoying the journey is also a great way to unwind and enjoy the trip.
