The Island Lord's Palace, also known as Ong Lon Palace or Tinh Truong Palace, was built around the 19th century under the French colonial period. Initially, this palace was used as a residence and workplace for the island lords - the representatives of the colonial government governing Con Dao. The architecture of the palace bears the strong imprint of the colonial period, harmoniously combining classical European style and traditional Asian features.
Ancient architecture of the Island Lord's Palace
The cool green garden in front of the palace brings a peaceful and serene space to the entire area.
This is also where prisoners had to do hard labor.
The main building of the palace is built from mainly stone and wood, with functional rooms such as living room, office, bedroom and kitchen. In front of the palace is a small garden, planted with lush green trees, creating an airy and peaceful space. In particular, from the palace, visitors can look far away, watch the immense ocean, feel the peace but also the majesty of this place.

The Island Lords' Office
The Island Lord's Palace is not only a simple architectural work but also a place that witnessed many historical stories. During the resistance war against France and the US, this place was the office of the island lords, who directly managed the Con Dao prison system - where thousands of political prisoners were detained.
Historical documents record that the island lords regularly held meetings, made important decisions regarding the repression of prisoners and maintained strict control on the island. However, it was also here that many prisoner struggles broke out, contributing to shaking the foundations of the colonial regime on the island.
Tourists visiting the Palace
During a tour, we had the opportunity to chat with Mr. Hoang Minh, a tourist from Hanoi. He shared: "This is the first time I have come to Con Dao and visited the Island Lord's Palace. Standing in this ancient space, I feel like I have returned to the past, imagining the years of the nation's steadfast struggle. The architecture of the palace is truly impressive, it retains its ancient beauty but still brings a sense of solemnity."
Ms. Lan Phuong, a history enthusiast, also expressed: "The Island Lord's Palace is not only a place to visit but also a place for us to learn more about historical stories that few people know. Every small corner, every brick seems to tell a part of the tragic past."

The characteristic red tiled roof, with suitable slope, creates a lasting and harmonious beauty for the project.
The existence of the Island Lord's Palace is a vivid testament to the ancient beauty of Con Dao. This pearl island in the middle of the ocean is not only known for its beautiful beaches, but also for preserving valuable cultural and historical heritages. The Island Lord's Palace, with its ancient architecture and touching historical stories, contributes to making Con Dao more mysterious and attractive.

The artifacts are still preserved intact.
Spending time visiting the Island Lord's Palace, visitors will have the opportunity to meditate and reflect on the historical and cultural values that were once part of this land. Through the ups and downs of time, Con Dao still retains its ancient beauty, and the Island Lord's Palace is one of the destinations that helps us connect with the past, and appreciate the historical values of our ancestors.
