Under the March sky, Hanoi enters the season of the crape myrtle blossoms – a season of pure white, gentle yet fragile and captivating. The trees suddenly don a white cloak, transforming seemingly ordinary streets and corners into something strangely poetic. In the still slightly chilly spring air, the white blossoms blanket the space with a serene beauty, evoking dreamy feelings about time and memories.

Le Dinh Hoa, a 28-year-old man born and raised in Ha Dong, is a photography enthusiast passionate about capturing beautiful moments of Hanoi. During the blooming season of the crape myrtle flowers, he picks up his camera, wanders through familiar streets, and searches for the most beautiful viewpoints to capture the pristine white blossoms of this flower.
"Seeing the crape myrtle blossoms covering the trees in white, I felt a strange sense of peace and tranquility. That white color isn't as vibrant as the flamboyant tree blossoms, nor as intensely fragrant as the milk flower, but carries a hint of fragility, a touch of sadness, and a sense of nostalgia," Hoa shared.

Every March, the crape myrtle trees on Hanoi's streets unexpectedly burst into bloom, bursting with color for a very short time before the gentle spring breezes carry away the delicate petals, leaving a thin layer of white on the sidewalks. The crape myrtle flowers are beautiful but fleeting, which only makes people cherish the moment they get to admire them even more.
Hoa often seeks out familiar spots during the flowering season, such as Trung Tu area, the Diplomatic Quarter, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, or Phe La Ngoc Ha – where the crape myrtle blossoms burst forth in the heart of the city. Each street corner, each row of trees, evokes a different emotion, a unique beauty. "I like taking photos at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum the most, because the scenery is both solemn and poetic. The clusters of pure white crape myrtle flowers stand out against the blue sky, blending with the tranquil space, making one feel more relaxed," he said.

Unlike other flowering seasons that last for months, the crape myrtle blossoms come and go very quickly. In just one or two weeks, from the time they bloom until the last petals fall, Hanoi transforms into a different color. But it is precisely because of this brevity that the crape myrtle blossoms become all the more memorable, a reminder of the beauty of the ephemeral things in life.

A peaceful, pristine Hanoi in the white blossoms of the crape myrtle tree – that's what I always want to remember," he confided.
