Located on Shanghai's financial district, the Fosun Foundation Theatre draws the attention of locals and tourists alike, who stop to admire its unique blend of art and technology.
With 4 above-ground floors and 4 underground floors, the building has a total area of 190,000 m².2The building's design is inspired by the architecture of traditional Chinese opera theaters. The exterior is designed to resemble stage curtains. It consists of 675 copper-plated metal rods, embellished with textured patterns to resemble bamboo or reed tubes, arranged parallel to each other to form three layers of curtains covering the entire front of the building, reflecting the East Asian spirit of this cultural landmark. A unique feature is that these rods move rhythmically like real stage curtains thanks to electric motors, capable of moving according to a pre-programmed sequence. As the "curtain" moves, the glass window frames and yellow railings are slowly revealed.

As the "panel" moves, the glass window frames and yellow railings will slowly be revealed.
This unique design often leaves people confused when trying to find their way inside the building. Cafes and souvenir shops are located on the ground floor, while the upper floors are used for traditional theatrical performances.

The Fosun Foundation building has become an architectural and cultural icon of Shanghai.
The Fosun Foundation building is located near the Shanghai Bund, on the west bank of the Huangpu River – an area rich in historical sites and the old quarter. Although relatively new, this center has become an architectural and cultural icon of Shanghai and a must-see destination for many tourists visiting the city.
