Specifically, the half-day tour to the Cu Chi Tunnels by speedboat received the Traveler's Choice Award 2019. This is also the second consecutive year that this tour has won the Traveler's Choice Award – a prestigious award given based on reviews and opinions of millions of travelers worldwide through TripAdvisor.
The Cu Chi Tunnels are located about 70km from Saigon and are a favorite tourist destination, especially for foreign visitors. The tunnel system is approximately 250km long and features ventilation systems located among the bushes. The Cu Chi Tunnels were built in an area known as "steel land," at the end of the Ho Chi Minh Trail. During the 1968 Tet Offensive, the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam used this tunnel system to attack Saigon. In 2015, the Cu Chi Tunnels historical site received the title of Hero of Labor for its exceptionally outstanding achievements in labor and innovation. In its 20 years of operation, the site has welcomed over 20 million domestic and international visitors. On February 12, 2016, the Cu Chi Tunnels historical site received the Certificate of Ranking as a Special National Monument.
Nowadays, tourists can visit the Cu Chi Tunnels (Ben Dinh or Ben Duoc) by car or speedboat. Many tour companies now organize speedboat tours to the Cu Chi Tunnels.
