Recently, Volkswagen Vietnam organized a "New Level of Experience" across Vietnam. The journey started from the VW Saigon showroom, home to Volkswagen's global standard service workshop with modern equipment, professional procedures, and a detailed 7-step vehicle reception and care service. The star of this trip was, of course, the Viloran, but equally impressive was the Teramont X – the 5-seater SUV that just launched in the Vietnamese market in March of this year.

Volkswagen Viloran - A German-standard MPV
In fact, less than half a year after its launch in the Vietnamese market, the Volkswagen Viloran has reached sales of nearly 1000 units. In the context of the difficult economic situation in general and the automotive industry in particular, that number is a dream for many brands, from mainstream to luxury. This is because the Viloran is not a budget car, with the selling price of both the Premium and Luxury versions at around 2 billion VND.
Viloran is the choice of businessmen, celebrities, and multi-generational families.
The success of the MPV highlights an invisible gap in the MPV segment, which is saturated in terms of "quantity" but lacks the "quality" of the Viloran. For a long time, Vietnamese consumers have been almost confined to a few somewhat forced choices: either buy the "national" Kia Carnival at a price of 1.2 - 1.8 billion VND; purchase a Toyota Alphard at around 4.4 billion VND; or splurge on a Lexus LM at nearly four times the price of the Viloran. The appearance of the Viloran gives consumers another extremely appealing option. A luxury German car with an attractive design, superior performance, and business-class amenities, but at a very reasonable price. On the market, there are still a few MPVs from Europe, but their prices are all above 3 billion VND. And above all, the Viloran doesn't exude the aura of a "service vehicle" - something that the affluent customer group rarely appreciates.
The cockpit of the Viloran
The appeal of the Viloran stems first and foremost from the fact that it is a German-standard MPV, even though it is assembled at Volkswagen's plant in Ningbo, China. This facility is built according to Volkswagen's global standard with four main workshops: stamping, bodywork, painting, and final assembly. It houses a technology center, an energy center, a training center, a showroom, and a staff operations center. The Ningbo plant has Volkswagen's most advanced bodywork workshop with over 1,100 robots. This is currently the bodywork workshop with the largest number of robots and an automation rate of up to 78%. The plant also utilizes Volkswagen's renowned chassis assembly line.

Business amenities, excellent operational efficiency.
The Viloran's next allure comes from its business-class amenities such as automatic sliding doors, touch-sensitive reading lights, a 3-mode and 3-intensity massage system, 4-way adjustable lumbar support, electrically adjustable footrests, adjustable headrests, smart cup holders, phone holders, and a separate control panel for the front passenger seat… The front cockpit is also designed in a spacious and sophisticated style.
Business class seats in Volkswagen's MPV
Of course, comfort alone isn't enough on a luxury MPV like the Viloran. Performance is also non-negotiable. The 2.0 TSI engine, with 220 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, allows the Viloran to glide smoothly even when nearly fully loaded. Gear changes are incredibly fast, with the new generation 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The dual fuel injection system and twin-turbocharger system play a significant role in the vehicle's performance. Stability and balance at high speeds are attributed to the advanced MQB evo chassis and independent suspension on both the front and rear axles. Of course, the Viloran is fully equipped with safety and driver assistance technologies such as adaptive cruise control, lane change assist, pre-collision warning, and emergency braking. On the highway from Saigon to Cam Ranh, driving this MPV provided an extremely smooth and comfortable experience.
A memorable journey with Volkswagen Vietnam.
Almost all background noise is eliminated. You simply recline your seat, activate the massage mode, pull the sunshades, and enjoy some soothing music. The superb quietness in the Viloran – even at high speeds or on rough terrain – is also the result of a sophisticated soundproofing system in many areas of the vehicle. Soundproofing panels are placed from the doors, roof, floor, to the engine compartment bulkhead. The soundproof and heat-insulating glass for the windshield and sunroof is up to 4.96mm thick. Of course, the Viloran also has a few controversial points, such as the somewhat sensitive electric power steering and the extra-wide sunroof that not everyone will like.
Overall, the Volkswagen Viloran deserves to be considered a quintessential German business-class MPV. It's a great choice for business people, celebrities, and multi-generational families. With the Viloran, every journey becomes incredibly relaxing. The Viloran is the car for enjoying life and asserting your lifestyle.
Teramont X accompanies Viloran on its journey.
The 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged engine in the Teramont X is the same as in the Teramont, but with a different transmission (the Teramont has an 8-speed automatic). However, this change, along with the addition of a range of intelligent driver-assistance technologies, gives the Teramont X its unique character.

The combination of engine, drivetrain, and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission on the Teramont X delivers powerful and responsive performance. Whether navigating city streets or traversing the highway from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang, the Teramont X remains responsive to every throttle input. This contributes to a very agile driving experience. The steering on the Teramont X varies with speed, feeling light yet responsive at low speeds and becoming more solid at higher speeds. Furthermore, the support of adaptive cruise control (ACC), forward collision warning (FCW), and lane change assist systems also contribute to driver comfort during long journeys.

Meanwhile, along the coastal road from Ninh Thuan to DT702 and then to Cam Ranh (Khanh Hoa), there are many steep mountain passes and sharp curves… With four people over 1.65 meters tall sitting in the car along with their personal luggage… the Teramont X felt solid and stable thanks to Volkswagen's MQB chassis platform. The chassis, combined with the stability of the suspension system and the very responsive steering wheel, allowed the car to corner quite smoothly.
In practice, besides requiring a deep press on the accelerator from the very first press, achieving maximum torque (350 Nm) from 1,600 to 4,300 rpm, the Teramont X proves to be agile and powerful when overtaking other vehicles or climbing steep hills. When the engine speed reaches above 2,000 rpm, the turbocharger engages, creating significant acceleration that propels the 5-seater SUV forward quite quickly with each press of the accelerator.
With its strengths in design, technological features, powerful and smooth operation, and competitive price, it's easy to understand why the Teramont X quickly gained popularity among customers in Vietnam.
