The events will be jointly organized by Quang Ninh province, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and several provinces and cities across the country. In particular, Quang Ninh province will host major events such as the announcement, opening, closing ceremonies, and the Ha Long Carnival 2018 program; the opening ceremony of the Asean Tourism Forum ATF 2019; the Ha Long Golf Tournament 2019, etc.

In particular, the announcement and opening ceremony of the National Tourism Year 2018 and the Ha Long Carnival (with fireworks) are scheduled to take place on April 28, 2018, at Ha Long Park. The closing ceremony of the National Tourism Year 2018, the opening ceremony of the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2019 and the Ha Long Open Golf Tournament are scheduled to take place in early January 2019 at the golf course in Cot 5, Hong Hai Ward, Ha Long City.
Activities in the National Tourism Year 2018 program also include festivals, cultural and sports programs of 14/14 localities in the province, giving tourists the opportunity to experience the unique cultural features of the regions of Quang Ninh.
