Accordingly, in 2018, Air New Zealand will operate two direct flights every Tuesday and Saturday between Auckland and Ho Chi Minh City, using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. This is the third consecutive season that the airline operates direct flights in Vietnam.

According to statistics from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, in the first 7 months of 2017, the number of New Zealand tourists to Vietnam was 27,203, an increase of 119.5% over the same period last year. Meanwhile, the number of Vietnamese tourists to New Zealand has also increased rapidly in recent years with more than 6,000 arrivals in 2016. This shows the close connection between the two countries and the great potential for flights between New Zealand and Vietnam.
