Seeing that tourists couldn't find accommodation during the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, many locals proactively invited them to stay in their homes.
Following reports of fully booked accommodations and price increases at some guesthouses during the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory, starting from May 6th, social media pages dedicated to Dien Bien tourism have seen numerous posts inviting visitors to stay for free.
Many locals offered tourists accommodation the day before the celebration, after seeing many visitors stranded on the streets. Some visitors were even given sleeping quarters in the classrooms of the local elementary school.
A large number of people from all over the country flocked to Dien Bien to attend the ceremony commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory.
At the same time, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, hundreds of free drinking water stations were set up along the streets, avenues, and historical sites in Dien Bien Phu city to help tourists alleviate the heat.
The hospitality and enthusiasm of the local people left a deep impression on tourists, making them feel warm and touched. This also contributed to promoting the image of Dien Bien tourism to domestic and international visitors.
The celebration of the Dien Bien Phu victory was a success despite the heavy rain.
From the beginning of 2024 to the present, Dien Bien has welcomed 845,000 tourists, nearly double the number compared to the same period in 2023. The provincial tourism sector estimates that as of May 6th, accommodation establishments in the area, comprising 205 establishments with nearly 2,800 rooms and approximately 5,100 beds, are almost fully occupied. Since May 4th, the Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee has required accommodation establishments to strictly adhere to regulations on price listing, ensure food safety and hygiene, conduct technical inspections of establishments with elevators, and improve their attitude and responsibility towards tourists.
Accordingly, the People's Committee of Dien Bien province requested accommodation establishments in the area to strictly comply with regulations on price listing, ensure food safety and hygiene, and improve their spirit, attitude, and responsibility towards tourists.
Local authorities are also mobilizing additional support from residents and households to ensure that tourists visiting Dien Bien at this time have sufficient accommodation. This contributes to creating a positive impression of the people of the Northwest region on visitors from all over the world.
