Art Vietnam Gallery opens photo exhibition 'Vietnam: 25 Years, a Changing Country'

10/04/2015

From April 10th to May 8th, 2015, Art Vietnam gallery will host an exhibition of photographs by Catherine Karnow, chronicling her 25-year journey into the heart of Vietnam.

The exhibition was opened to commemorate the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States and the 40th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War.

Catherine Karnow is renowned for her landscape photographs from around the world, published in National Geographic for three decades. She is the daughter of journalist Stanley Karnow, famous for his book about Vietnam, "Vietnam: A History." Perhaps this is why images of Vietnam have left such a deep impression on the photographer's soul.

The exhibition is arranged chronologically, starting with the early 1990s, a section on General Vo Nguyen Giap, a section on children affected by Agent Orange, and a section on present-day Vietnam. This not only highlights the changes but also shows Catherine's ever-deepening love for the country and people of Vietnam.

Visiting the exhibition, tourists will witness moving images of General Vo Nguyen Giap, see a series of heartbreaking pictures of victims of Agent Orange, and admire the development of a modern Vietnam with things that were purely a dream 25 years ago…

Suzanne Lecht, art director of Art Vietnam gallery, who has lived in Hanoi for the past 21 years, said: "This photo exhibition is an opportunity to pay tribute to the people who have entered our lives and made Vietnam a part of our hearts."
