Art Vietnam Gallery opens photo exhibition 'Vietnam 25 years, a changing country'

10/04/2015

From April 10 to May 8, 2015, Art Vietnam Gallery will host a photo exhibition by photographer Catherine Karnow, telling the story of her 25-year journey into the heart of Vietnam.

The exhibition was opened to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Vietnam-US diplomatic relations and the 40th anniversary of the end of the war between the US and Vietnam.

Catherine Karnow is famous for her landscape photos around the world for 3 decades published in National Geographic magazine. She is the daughter of journalist Stanley Karnow, famous for his book about Vietnam “Vietnam: A History”. Perhaps that is why the images of Vietnam are deeply imprinted in the soul of the female photographer.

The exhibition is arranged chronologically, from the early 90s, to General Vo Nguyen Giap, to children affected by Agent Orange, and to Vietnam today. This not only highlights the changes but also shows Catherine's ever-deepening love for the land and people of Vietnam.

Coming to the exhibition, visitors will witness touching images of General Vo Nguyen Giap, see a series of heartbreaking frames of Agent Orange victims, and admire the development of a modern Vietnam with things that 25 years ago were purely a dream...

"This photo exhibition is an opportunity to pay homage to the people who have entered our lives and made Vietnam a part of our hearts," said Suzanne Lecht, art director of Art Vietnam gallery who has lived in Hanoi for the past 21 years.
