Ta Giang is a favorite destination for travelers who want to conquer a wild, rugged yet gentle landscape, enjoy the fresh air of the grasslands, and reconnect with nature to leave behind their daily worries.
“The Ta Giang grassland boasts lush green vegetation, with many clear, emerald-green streams winding through the forest. If you want to reconnect with nature and relax your mind, this is a wise choice,” Nguyen Anh Van (26 years old, Ho Chi Minh City) shared with Travellive.
Ta Giang is also the birthplace of the Chapi instrument, featured in the famous song by musician Tran Tien.
Ta Giang is located in Thanh Son commune, Khanh Son district, Khanh Hoa province, about 70 km from Cam Ranh. It is the homeland of the Raglai ethnic group. Another interesting fact is that Ta Giang is the birthplace of the Chapi instrument, featured in the famous song by composer Tran Tien. During a visit to Ninh Thuan in 1993, while in the high mountains of Ninh Son district, the composer met a couple living peacefully in a simple stilt house. All the household items were made of bamboo, including a musical instrument called the Chapi. The couple's deep love and the captivating sound of the Chapi inspired the composer to write the famous song "Chapi's Dream."
This place is blessed by nature with a dreamy landscape nestled in a valley, with rolling mountains in the distance and the sound of babbling streams.
Get away from the city for a day.
Unlike their first Ta Giang tour where they hired a tour guide, this time the group decided to trek independently, and Van was given the responsibility of being the group leader. “The trip was more difficult because we had to carry heavy loads, prepare our own food and drinks, and there was a risk of getting lost. But what we gained was a memorable experience and a challenge to ourselves, having to prepare everything ourselves without the support of a tour company,” Van shared.
After traversing a 10km journey to the campsite, the group conquered a route surrounded by pristine forest, passing through the fields of the Raglai ethnic minority and lush green banana plantations. A peaceful atmosphere and fresh air, imbued with the essence of the mountains and forests, were a sight rarely found in the hustle and bustle of city life.
The entire group conquered a stretch of road completely surrounded by primeval forest, crossing many fields and plantations of the Raglai ethnic minority, and lush green banana hills.
The highlight of the Ta Giang trekking journey is crossing rocky streams and slippery, rugged paths. However, the streams boast crystal-clear, cool water, where you can see fish swimming and pebbles at the bottom. In the sweltering summer heat, the opportunity to swim freely in this "natural pool" is considered one of the most memorable experiences for the entire group of travelers.
Amidst the vast forest landscape lies a crystal-clear stream winding through the trees, surrounded by lush green hills, making the scenery of Ta Giang both poetic and majestic. A stunning natural landscape is covered in the vibrant green of the trees, the azure blue of the sky, and the emerald green of the streams.
Traversing treacherous mountain trails and wading through numerous clear streams, the tour group finally arrived at the campsite. This location, blessed by nature with idyllic scenery nestled in a valley, offered breathtaking views of rolling mountains in the distance and the gentle sound of flowing streams. Immersing themselves in the tranquil mountain landscape acted as a "soul-healing balm," helping the young people forget the noise, pollution of the city, and the worries of everyday life.

Find a place of true peace.
After a day of trekking and conquering the long trail, the group had the opportunity to gather, set up tents, light a campfire, enjoy delicious food, and chat under the setting sun. "There's no phone signal here, so being away from technology gives us a chance to talk to each other more," Van shared.
As night falls, immerse yourself in the fresh air, breathe in the breeze carrying the scent of the mountains and forests, look up at the dark sky full of twinkling stars… all of this creates wonderful memories that can only be experienced when enjoying a peaceful life in harmony with nature.
In the early morning, the Ta Giang grassland seems to be adorned with a fresh, vibrant "new coat," brimming with life.
In the early morning, the Ta Giang grassland seems to be adorned with a fresh, vibrant "new coat," brimming with life. When the weather in the forest is cool and crisp, with dew still clinging to the leaves, gazing into the distance to take in the sunrise is an unforgettable experience.
Offering advice to young people wanting to explore the Ta Giang grassland, Mr. Van shared that getting good physical fitness before the trip is something backpackers need to prepare thoroughly. In addition, he believes the best time to travel is from March to July each year. "During this time, Ta Giang experiences less rain, the roads are less slippery, and the water level is not high or fast-flowing," the group leader added.
