This is one of the activities within the tourism development cooperation program between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta, specifically the provinces in the Eastern Mekong Delta Tourism Development Cluster.
Ben Tre and Tra Vinh are two provinces in the eastern coastal sub-region of the Mekong Delta, located between the two branches of the Tien and Hau rivers and bordering the East Sea; a land of favorable weather and wind, with the characteristics of the transition from the plain to the sea. Ben Tre province has strengths in river tourism, garden tourism, resorts, and tourism development based on the ecological advantages of the coconut river. Meanwhile, Tra Vinh's strength is community tourism, characterized by cultural tourism because this is a land with the characteristics of the transition from the plain to the sea, a place where the three ethnic groups Kinh, Khmer, and Hoa have long been attached to each other, forming a multi-ethnic culture with many communal houses, pagodas, churches, and traditional festivals. In particular, Ben Tre - Tra Vinh are connected by Co Chien bridge and border the East Sea, with convenient traffic by both road and waterway.
These factors are a great basis for Ben Tre and Tra Vinh to join together to promote tourism at this time, effectively promoting tourism development based on the premise of exploiting and using local resources, thereby enhancing tour connections, routes, cooperation in promoting investment - trade in tourism services. The combination of the two provinces makes it easier to introduce images, products, tourism services, and traditional cultures of the two localities, while enriching tourism products without overlapping; each province has its own unique tourism products; creating more attraction for tourists when coming to Ben Tre - Tra Vinh.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Duong Hoang Sum, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tra Vinh shared: "It is not by chance that Ben Tre and Tra Vinh provinces chose this very special way of connecting to link the products of the two localities together, but this is the conclusion from a journey with many experiences. This will be an important domestic tourism market of the Mekong Delta provinces in the coming time."
With this promotion program, Ben Tre - Tra Vinh tourism also hopes to strengthen the tourism development connection between Ben Tre - Tra Vinh and tourism businesses across the country, especially cooperation with Hanoi tourism businesses in a professional, modern direction and access to the tourism service supply value chain, from quantity to quality, with focus, key points, improving efficiency and professionalism in tourism activities of the two provinces in particular, of the Mekong Delta and the whole country in general, together building the image of a quality, friendly and safe destination.
