The music night titled "Awesome Tapes from Africa," at 8 PM on March 7th at ATK 73A Mai Hac De, will offer a unique and rare experience with a DJ set featuring African music played entirely on cassette tapes, delivering captivating melodies.

With a suitcase full of highlife, fuji, benga, tsonga disco, soukous, hip-hop, rhumba, and ethio-soul tapes, etc., Brian Shimkovitz discovered during his travels across Africa, Awesome Tapes from Africa's DJ sets are brimming with the excitement and exhilaration characteristic of the best parties you've ever been to.

Brian Shimkovitz is the man behind the blog Awesome Tapes from Africa, a treasure trove of African music featuring names largely unknown (but very much deserved) in the West. MP3s of the cassette tapes Brian has found are posted on the blog, along with scanned images of the cassette covers and comments from the collector himself.

Audiences will experience a wide range of musical styles, from the pulsating disco of Kenya by Prince Khonjo, to a Burkina Farso album by an unknown artist named Ouobraogo Charles, and sometimes a collection of Malian hunting songs.

Tickets are sold online athttp://ticketbox.vn/event/tapes-23189or at the entrance of ATK 73A Mai Hac De before the show.
