Receiving information from the people, on the evening of September 11, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) of Binh Dinh province invited leaders of the People's Committee of Quy Nhon City and relevant agencies to inspect the actual subsidence phenomenon at the sea embankment behind the Hoang Gia resort (in the border area between Ghenh Rang and Nguyen Van Cu wards, Quy Nhon City) to find out the cause and solution.
Mr. Ngo Hoang Nam, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quy Nhon City, confirmed that it is highly likely that the weather has caused the ocean currents to fluctuate, causing the subsidence in this area. Experts will evaluate and analyze to clarify the cause.
Image of the area behind the Royal resort on the afternoon of July 18, when it was still a beautiful golden sand beach.
On the afternoon of September 11, 2019, the sandbank was lowered more than 1 meter, revealing a rocky beach full of moss.
Test results showed that the high tide washed away about 350 meters of sand behind the Royal resort, exposing moss-covered rocks that were used to reinforce the seawall decades ago.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Vui, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Binh Dinh province, also stated that the big waves formed from the impact of the southwest monsoon combined with the influence of the recent storm No. 4 have moved the sand in this area.
This embankment section is about 350 m long, of which 240 m was built by Hoang Anh Gia Lai Company when building Hoang Gia resort (formerly known as Hoang Anh Gia Lai resort), and 110 m was built by Quy Nhon City People's Committee.
In the immediate future, the authorities are working on a temporary plan to reinforce the seawall to prevent landslides with stone gabions to ensure safety during this year’s storm season. In the long term, the industry has also recommended that the province consider pumping sand to restore the beach to its former state.
