What's so special about the Hue Festival 2024?

Over its 24 years of organization, the Hue Festival has achieved outstanding accomplishments, gradually affirming its position and consolidating its brand as a national and international-level festival, contributing to stimulating tourism, preserving culture, and developing the socio-economic development of Thua Thien Hue province.

The Hue Festival 2024 continues to be a unique and attractive cultural event, characterized by its traditional, impressive, and humane nature, empowering locals and tourists to be both creators and beneficiaries. It features not only representative art programs showcasing the essence of many domestic and international cultures for visitors to participate in, but also meticulously recreated and preserved royal and folk festivals, as well as new festivals that are in line with current trends and meet the public's enjoyment needs.

On the afternoon of May 9th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism jointly organized an international press conference to introduce the Hue Festival 2024 and the Hue International Arts Festival Week 2024.

At the press conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, stated: "Over the past 24 years, the Hue Festival has achieved outstanding results, creating momentum to stimulate tourism, preserve culture, and develop socio-economic aspects. In the effort to make Thua Thien Hue a national and international-level festival city, the Hue Festival 2024 will continue to be a unique and attractive cultural event, characterized by its traditional, impressive, and humane nature, empowering both locals and tourists as creators and beneficiaries."

Accordingly, Mr. Hoang Viet Trung, Deputy Head of the Hue Festival 2024 Organizing Committee, shared with the press that a new feature of the Hue International Art Festival Week 2024 is the focus on effectively utilizing the structures and architecture within the Hue Imperial Citadel, especially the Kien Trung Palace – the most unique palace in the Hue Imperial Citadel. A series of festivals throughout all four seasons at Hue Festival 2024

The Hue Festival 2024, following a four-season orientation, will continue to exploit a series of festivals spanning the year, gradually building a new system of festival programs.

The Spring Festival - "Spring in the Ancient Capital" (January - March) is highlighted by activities related to the royal court Tet (Lunar New Year), traditional Tet cultural spaces, and a wealth of unique and vibrant folk festivals, attracting the participation of tourists.

The Winter Festival - “Hue Winter” (October - December) is highlighted by the Hue Music Week 2024 and concludes with a Countdown program to bid farewell to the Hue Festival 2024 and welcome the new year 2025.

What's special about the Hue International Arts Festival Week 2024?

The highlight of the Hue Festival 2024 is the Hue International Arts Festival Week 2024, themed "Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development," taking place from June 7th to June 12th, 2024.

The Hue International Arts Festival Week 2024 promises to offer attendees unique and novel experiences in culture, history, and art. It will feature captivating performances by prominent domestic and international artists, showcasing traditional court music and dance, unique folk melodies, and high-quality traditional and contemporary art programs from eight countries across continents, taking place nightly at stages in Kien Trung Palace, Thai Binh Lau, Thieu Phuong Garden (Hue Imperial Citadel), the Quoc Hoc Monument community stage, 3/2 Park, and throughout Thua Thien Hue province.

Over six days and nights, the Hue International Arts Festival Week 2024 will feature a series of main activities and programs taking place continuously:

The Opening Ceremony of the Hue Festival Week 2024 will take place at 8 PM on June 7, 2024, for the first time at the Kien Trung Palace, marking the beginning of a series of vibrant activities for the Hue International Art Festival Week 2024. The artistic program will be made even more dazzling and brilliant by the support of modern technology including Laser projection, LED Matrix, Hologram, and 3D Mapping.

The "Colorful Culture" street festival, held on the afternoons of June 8th and 10th, 2024, will showcase the cultural heritage of Hue, the cultures of various regions, and countries around the world. It will create a vibrant artistic synergy, enlivening the atmosphere across numerous streets, bringing joy and excitement to tourists and locals alike.

Performances by domestic and international art troupes will take place from 7:30 PM to 11:00 PM from June 8th to June 11th, 2024, at community stages in Quoc Hoc Square and 3/2 Park.

The music program "Dialogue with Trinh Cong Son - Love Found," organized by the Hue Imperial Citadel Conservation Center in collaboration with the family of musician Trinh Cong Son and BamBoo Artists Agency, will take place at 6 PM on June 9th at the Kien Trung Palace stage (Hue Imperial Citadel).

The Light Festival is scheduled to be held at Thai Binh Lau and Thieu Phuong Garden (Hue Imperial Citadel). The artistic lighting space, inspired by Hue's heritage materials and modern Western technology, will transport visitors on a magical and poetic journey.

The Beer Festival, organized by Carlsberg, is a spectacular music party featuring top young and popular artists in Vietnam.

The Vegetarian Food Festival and Lantern Festival, held at Nghinh Luong Pavilion from June 8-9, 2024, are opportunities to showcase the unique and distinctive features of Hue's vegetarian cuisine. In addition, the Lantern Festival, with its holiday of releasing lanterns on the Perfume River, is organized in collaboration with the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Thua Thien Hue province, symbolizing a prayer for peace in the country, favorable weather, and the well-being of the people.

The "Tam Giang Water Festival," held from June 8-10, 2024, aims to promote the potential, strengths, and image of the riverside countryside of Quang Dien to tourists from within and outside the province, especially the unique traditional cultural values ​​and the immense potential of the Tam Giang lagoon system.
