Vietnam's tourism ambassador receives nomination for the 90th Academy Awards.

The blockbuster Kong: Skull Island has just been nominated for "Best Visual Effects" at the 90th Academy Awards. The director shared that the beauty of Vietnam's scenery contributed greatly to the film's success.

In the list of nominations announced by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on January 23rd, the blockbuster film Kong: Skull Island received a nomination in the "Best Visual Effects" category. Thus, the beauty of Vietnam's nature will be competing alongside these masterpieces.Blade Runner 2049,Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,Star Wars: The Last JediandWar for the Planet of the Apes.

 

This is another significant achievement for Kong: Skull Island – a blockbuster with 70% of its scenes set in Vietnam. The film had a production budget of $190 million and grossed $566 million worldwide, while earning 170 billion VND (equivalent to $7.5 million) in Vietnam – the second highest in Vietnamese film history.


Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts is currently a tourism ambassador for Vietnam.

Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts affirmed that the Vietnamese setting contributed to the film's success: "I hope Vietnamese audiences know that the landscape and spirit of Vietnam played a crucial role in the film receiving the nomination. Kong: Skull Island could not have been so successful without the Vietnamese setting, as well as the support of this country. The Vietnamese scenery captivated audiences with its unique and unparalleled beauty. There are many technological special effects in Kong: Skull Island, but the image of Vietnam is something that could never be created on a computer."

Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts didn't forget to thank the visual effects artists who worked with him for a year after filming wrapped: "Today, they have been recognized, and this nomination is for all of them. Every single person on the project brought the work to life, and I owe them a debt of gratitude, whether for their contributions, big or small." The film was shot in Quang Binh, Ninh Binh, Quang Ninh, and other locations. Audiences were completely overwhelmed by the majestic and breathtakingly beautiful Vietnamese scenery in every frame of Kong: Skull Island.
