On this historic morning of April 30, the whole of Vietnam joyfully celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, a brilliant milestone that closes the painful history of war and opens an era of peace, independence, freedom and unity. The focal point of this series of important events takes place in Ho Chi Minh City, the vibrant economic and cultural heart of the whole country, where special activities are prepared to deeply depict the historical significance and arouse national pride in every Vietnamese citizen.
In the solemn and heroic atmosphere that enveloped the area of Ben Bach Dang Park, at exactly 7:00 a.m., 21 cannons fired simultaneously, tearing the morning mist and echoing throughout the vast space. The deep, resounding explosions were like echoes from the heroic past, like an affirmation of the strength and will to unify the country of an entire nation.
The celebration began with a flag-saluting ceremony amid the resounding sound of 21 cannon shots by the artillery team at Bach Dang wharf.
Before that, from 6:30 am, the final preparations for this special artillery display were urgently completed by the functional forces. Every detail was meticulously checked, from the position of the artillery, the direction of the fire, to the smooth coordination between the gunners, ensuring the performance was perfect and most solemn.
The preparations were completed by the soldiers very early.
The artillery positions were arranged scientifically and solemnly along Ton Duc Thang Street, stretching about 90 meters, forming a majestic line facing the Saigon River. 15 large cannons, each weighing approximately 4 tons, were placed on a bright red carpet, further enhancing the solemnity and sacredness of the ceremony. The majestic cannons stood tall as historical witnesses, recalling the years of arduous but glorious fighting of our army and people.
After the firing signal, the first cannon shot rang out, opening the impressive fireworks display. The following cannon shots echoed loudly, each explosion like a majestic drum beat, depicting the heroic spirit of the nation on the day of reunification.

The people gathered at Bach Dang Wharf very early, with excitement and pride, could not help but admire and marvel at this special artillery display. Their eyes followed each column of white smoke rising after each shot, listening to the echoes of history, feeling more deeply the value of peace and unity that our ancestors had shed so much blood to regain.
To have this magnificent and meaningful cannon firing performance, for more than two weeks before, the elite artillery forces had been practicing tirelessly. From controlling the cannon, adjusting the firing direction, to synchronous coordination between the battery teams, all were carried out seriously and professionally, demonstrating a high sense of responsibility and careful preparation for the country's important event.
