At Venice International Film Critics' Week, "Flapping Wings in the Air" by director Nguyen Hoang Diep won the Best Film award from the Federation of European and Mediterranean Film Critics (FEDEORA). The film beat six other outstanding works from countries such as France, Italy, China, Yugoslavia, Germany, and Palestine to win the annual award for best debut feature film at this event.
"Flapping Wings in the Air" is expected to be released to domestic audiences at the same time as the Hanoi International Film Festival 2014 (November 23-27). "Flapping Wings in the Air" is a prominent representative of contemporary Southeast Asian cinema, a work that frankly and fearlessly expresses the perspective of women as they delve into the difficult moments of life, according to expert Fulvi.

"Flapping Wings in Mid-Air" tells the story of Huyen (played by Thuy Anh), a young woman in need of money for an abortion. Her boyfriend, Tung (played by Hoang Ha), suddenly disappears after losing all their savings in cockfighting. Huyen is left with only her transgender best friend, Linh (played by Thanh Duy), for help. She then meets Hoang (played by Tran Bao Son), a man with a peculiar fetish for pregnant women. The story becomes even more complicated when Hoang makes Huyen so happy that she almost forgets about the growing fetus inside her.
