On April 20, 2010, the Deepwater Horizon deepwater drilling rig off the coast of Louisiana shocked the world when a massive explosion occurred, triggering an unstoppable oil spill. Over 50,000 barrels of crude oil spilled into the Gulf of Mexico over 87 days. This is considered one of the biggest oil and gas disasters in human history.

"Deepwater Horizon" not only recreates this historical event on screen, but also offers viewers a different perspective never before seen in the world. Previously, the themes discussed revolved around environmental issues. This film tells the courageous story of 126 workers on the oil rig on that fateful day. They were skilled laborers working diligently, hoping to return home to their families. Suddenly, they faced the darkest moment of their lives. Standing on the brink of survival, they raced against time, confronting the vast ocean and raging flames, to protect and save each other.

Notably, the film's advisor was none other than real-life worker Mike Williams, who stated that he was deeply impressed by how Wahlberg and the filmmakers realistically portrayed his experiences during the disaster: “The actors and filmmakers captured every necessary detail that I, and the other survivors, went through. The biggest purpose and the strongest motivation for me to participate in this project was to honor the 11 people who lost their lives.”
Deepwater Horizon premiered in Vietnam on September 30, 2016, in 2D and IMAX formats.
