On the afternoon of May 16th, the delegation of ambassadors completed their expedition to Son Doong Cave in Quang Binh and returned to Chay Lap Farmstay.

During the first few days of the expedition, everyone experienced no health problems. However, in the last two days, the Italian Ambassador had a knee issue and Ambassador Pham Sanh Chau suffered a minor foot injury. Toan (Bamboo), the main guide of the Son Doong cave expedition, said the journey went very smoothly, with the biggest obstacle being the weather.

The first day was hot and sunny, but the second day brought rain. Due to the heavy rain, the water level in the river rose quite quickly, forcing the group to move faster. In the photo: US Assistant Secretary of State Tom Malinowski.

However, from the third day onwards, the weather was sunny, and upon exiting the cave, the sun softened thanks to a morning rain, welcoming the delegation back safely. In the photo: Italian Ambassador Cecilia Piccioni (pink shirt) and Australian Ambassador Hugh Borrowman (white shirt)

The overall feeling among the delegation throughout the trip was one of happiness at being able to enjoy the breathtaking natural beauty; this was the first time the ambassadors had seen the pristine beauty beneath the surface. In the photo: Argentine Ambassador Claudio Ricardo Gutierrez.

Sharing about other difficulties during the expedition, Mr. Toan said that in the first few days, everyone had no health problems. However, in the last two days, the Italian Ambassador suffered a minor knee injury and Ambassador Pham Sanh Chau sustained a minor foot injury. While resting at camp in the evening, the members of the delegation took pictures around the area, ate, and chatted together. The Ambassadors also participated in some fun games such as playing cards with soot.

Mr. Toan added that each ambassador enjoys the beauty in their own way. For example, the Argentinian Ambassador Claudio Gutierrez sometimes sits alone by the riverbank, sipping wine and admiring the scenery. In the photo: Swedish Ambassador Camilla Mellander.

Mr. Dinh Quang Minh agrees with the view that Son Doong is an asset of Quang Binh, of all Vietnam, and even a shared pride of the whole world.

After two days of heavy rain and many stretches of wading through streams inside the cave, most of the Ambassador's luggage and clothing, as well as that of the delegation members, were covered in mud... and even blood. But everyone was proud to have been fortunate enough to witness such rare and spectacular sights deep underground.
