During the first days of the expedition, everyone had no health problems. However, during the last two days, the Italian Ambassador had knee problems and Ambassador Pham Sanh Chau had a minor foot injury. Toan (Bamboo), the main guide of the Son Doong Cave expedition, said the journey was very smooth, the biggest obstacle was the weather.

The first day was hot and sunny, but the second day it rained. The heavy rain caused the river to rise rapidly, forcing the group to move faster. In the photo: US Assistant Secretary of State Tom Malinowski.

However, from the third day onwards the weather was sunny, and when they emerged from the cave, the sun was softened by the morning rain, welcoming the group back safely. In the photo: Italian Ambassador Cecilia Piccioni (pink shirt) and Australian Ambassador Hugh Borrowman (white shirt)

However, during the last two days, the Italian Ambassador suffered a minor knee injury and Ambassador Pham Sanh Chau suffered a minor foot injury. While setting up camp for the evening, the group members took pictures around, ate and talked together. The Ambassadors also participated in some fun games such as playing cards.

Mr. Toan added that each ambassador enjoys the beauty in his own way. For example, Argentine Ambassador Claudio Gutierrez sometimes sits alone by the river, sipping a glass of wine and admiring the beautiful scenery. In the photo: Swedish Ambassador Camilla Mellander

After two days of heavy rain and many wading streams in the cave, most of the luggage and clothes of the Ambassador and the members of the delegation were covered in mud... and blood. But everyone was proud to be lucky enough to enjoy such rare and spectacular scenes deep underground.
