In the first episode of season 8 of CNN's hit travel and food show Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, which aired on September 26th, renowned American chef Anthony Bourdain took viewers to famous landmarks in Vietnam.

The Emeraude cruise ship had the honor of hosting him and his film crew in Ha Long Bay. Despite receiving many free offers from other cruise ships, Bourdain decided to charter the legendary Emeraude for his three-day exploration of the Gulf of Tonkin. Upon seeing the Emeraude – formerly a French colonial-era steamship – Bourdain was amazed by its classic appearance yet state-of-the-art amenities. He acknowledged in front of the cameras: "Everything is perfect and romantic, just as I expected." Here, Bourdain and his film crew worked and relaxed amidst the stunning scenery of Ha Long Bay, participating in activities with the crew, such as visiting Hoa Cuong fishing village and enjoying a simple lunch of grilled fresh fish and squid right on board.

Evoking the spirit of the Indochina era, Emeraude Classic Cruises was once the most famous ship in Ha Long Bay, offering overnight sightseeing tours on the bay as well as full-service charter options.
