The Emeraude Cruise was honored to welcome him and his film crew to Ha Long Bay. Despite receiving many free offers from many other cruise lines, Mr. Bourdain still decided to charter the legendary Emeraude for a 3-day exploration of the Gulf of Tonkin. As soon as he saw the Emeraude – a former French colonial steamship – Mr. Bourdain was surprised by a classic-looking ship with all the most modern amenities. He admitted in front of the camera: “Everything was perfect and romantic, just like what I expected.” Here, Mr. Bourdain and his film crew worked and relaxed in the beautiful scenery of Ha Long Bay and participated in activities with the crew, such as visiting Hoa Cuong fishing village and having a simple lunch with grilled fresh fish and squid right on the boat.
With an echo of the Indochina era, Emeraude Classic Cruises was once the most famous ship in Ha Long Bay, offering overnight tours on the bay as well as full-service charters.
