His Highness Sheikh Ahmed said: "Emirates' orders today will be delivered from 2022 and will meet the airline's needs into the 2030s. Some of these aircraft will be used to replace older aircraft to maintain a modern and efficient fleet, while others will serve the airline's future expansion of its destination network. We see the 787 as a great addition to our 777 and A380 fleet, providing the airline with greater flexibility to serve a range of destinations as we develop our global network. Today's orders reflect Emirates' strategy of always investing in the most advanced and efficient aircraft. Today's announcement also speaks to our confidence in the future of aviation in the UAE and the region."

Mr. McAllister shared: "We are delighted that Emirates has selected the Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner to expand its fleet and support future growth. This aircraft will set a new standard for efficiency in commercial aviation when it enters service next year. Emirates' purchase of the Dreamliner 787 expands our long-standing partnership and will preserve many jobs in the United States."

Emirates' agreement includes conversion rights to potentially switch to the 787-9 aircraft, providing greater flexibility for the airline's future fleet and global network. Emirates' Dreamliners will be produced in a mix of two-class and three-class configurations, accommodating between 240 and 330 passengers. Deliveries will begin in phases from 2022 onwards. This order follows a historic order for 150 Boeing 777s equipped with GE9X engines, signed by Emirates at the 2013 Dubai Airshow, which will also begin deliveries from 2020 onwards.

Emirates' partnership with Boeing has spanned decades. Emirates is currently the world's largest operator of Boeing 777s, with 165 aircraft. With today's announcement, Emirates will commit to operating 204 Boeing wide-body aircraft in the future.
