Everest tells the story of two climbing teams attempting to conquer Mount Everest. One team is led by Scott Fischer (Jake Gyllenhaal), and the other by Rob Hall (Jason Clarke). This meticulously planned expedition unexpectedly encounters numerous difficulties, challenges, and deadly dangers from a devastating snowstorm. Besides battling the disaster and the extraordinary efforts of the climbing teams, the film also moves viewers with heartwarming stories of human kindness. Audiences will feel that the central theme of the film is human compassion in times of adversity.
To create realistic footage, director Baltasar Kurmakur spent a great deal of time researching and filming scenes in -30°C weather conditions on a snowy mountain. Meanwhile, actors like Jason Clark and Jake Gyllenhaal had to put in tremendous effort learning mountain climbing techniques and practicing regularly to fully embody their roles as mountain climbers.
Everest officially premiered in Vietnam on September 18, 2015, in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D formats.
