On the morning of April 5th in Hanoi, the People's Committee of Hue City held a press conference to provide information about the Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2017 program.

Mr. NguyAccording to Nguyen Dang Thanh, Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee and Deputy Head of the Festival Organizing Committee, with the theme "The Quintessence of Vietnamese Crafts," the 2017 Hue Traditional Craft Festival, taking place from April 28 to May 2, will continue to offer visitors many famous traditional craft products from the ancient capital and many craft villages nationwide, such as embroidery, weaving, enamelware, jewelry, inlay work, bronze art, bamboo paper, pottery, Thanh Tien paper flowers, Sinh village paintings, Dong Ho paintings... and various types of cakes and Hue culinary specialties.
According to Mr. Nguyen Dang Thanh, this is a major cultural and economic event of significant importance aimed at affirming and enhancing the position of Hue Ancient Capital - Vietnam's Festival City - ASEAN Cultural City, honoring the quintessential values of heritage, further improving the efficiency of production and business in traditional crafts, and strengthening joint ventures, linkages, and investment cooperation in all fields, especially promoting socio-economic growth, linking traditional craft products with tourism and domestic and international markets.
The Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2017 will include the following main events: The opening ceremony, featuring a spectacular art program, will take place at 8 PM on April 28, 2017, at the Quoc Hoc Square stage; the "Convergence of Asian Identity" fashion show will take place at 8 PM on April 29, 2017, at the Quoc Hoc Square stage, showcasing unique collections made from traditional textiles by 19 designers from Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Spain.

The Ao Dai Festival, themed "Hue Painting and Ao Dai," will take place at 8 PM on April 30th at Truong Tien Bridge; the Ancestor Worship Ceremony for Traditional Crafts and the procession honoring artisans from craft villages are rituals of gratitude and honor for the values of traditional Vietnamese handicrafts, honoring and remembering the contributions of ancestors, and honoring craft villages and generations of artisans; exhibitions of art works, royal artifacts, and unique collections from renowned collectors will be held throughout the Festival... along with diverse community cultural activities and supporting events; the Food Festival will showcase delicious and unique dishes from Hue and across the country, prepared by talented and skillful culinary artisans.
The closing ceremony included the announcement of awards and a spectacular artistic performance featuring both domestic and international artists.
Mr. Nguyen Thai Thien, Deputy Director of the Press Department, stated that although the Hue Traditional Craft Festival is national in nature, it has had an international scale since its first organization. This is a very meaningful event for preserving and promoting the value of heritage, and he hopes that this event will continue to be maintained and developed in the coming years.
