On the morning of April 5 in Hanoi, the People's Committee of Hue City held a press conference to inform about the Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2017 program.
Mr. NguyNguyen Dang Thanh, Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Festival Organizing Committee, said that with the "fixed" theme of "Quintessence of Vietnamese Crafts", the 2017 Hue Traditional Crafts Festival taking place from April 28 to May 2 continues to bring to visitors many famous traditional craft products of the ancient capital and many domestic craft villages such as: embroidery, weaving, enamel, jewelry, carving, bronze handicrafts, bamboo, pottery, Thanh Tien paper flowers, Sinh village paintings, Dong Ho paintings... and cakes, Hue culinary specialties.
According to Mr. Nguyen Dang Thanh, this is a major cultural and economic event of great significance to affirm and enhance the position of the Ancient Capital of Hue - Festival City of Vietnam - ASEAN Cultural City, honor the quintessential values of heritage, further improve the efficiency of production and business of traditional industries, and at the same time strengthen joint ventures, partnerships, and investment cooperation in all fields, especially promoting socio-economic growth, linking traditional craft products with tourism, with domestic and international consumption markets.
Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2017 will include the following main contents: Opening ceremony with a special art program taking place at 8:00 p.m. on April 28, 2017 at Quoc Hoc Square stage; Asian Identity Convergence fashion program taking place at 8:00 p.m. on April 29, 2017 at Quoc Hoc Square stage with unique collections on traditional textile materials by 19 designers from Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Spain.
The Ao Dai Festival with the theme of Hue Painting and Ao Dai takes place at 8:00 p.m. on April 30 at Truong Tien Bridge; The Ancestor Worship Ceremony and the procession, honoring artisans of craft villages are rituals to express gratitude and honor the values of traditional Vietnamese crafts, honor and remember the merits of ancestors, honor craft villages, generations of artisans; Display and exhibition of works of art, royal artifacts, unique collections of famous collectors during the Festival... along with diverse community cultural activities and response activities; Food Festival: introducing delicious and unique dishes of Hue and all regions of the country prepared by talented and skillful culinary artisans.
The closing program combined with the award ceremony and special art programs at home and abroad.
Mr. Nguyen Thai Thien, Deputy Director of the Press Department, said that although the Hue Traditional Craft Festival is national in nature, it has had an international scale since its first organization. This is a very meaningful event to preserve and promote heritage values and hopes that this event will continue to be maintained and promoted in the following years.
