Ford launches virtual reality experience.

Given the increasing number of car and bicycle collisions, Ford is actively encouraging car and bicycle drivers to participate in the "WheelSwap" virtual reality experience to both improve their understanding of city roads and foster deeper empathy among road users.

The reality is that the number of people using public transportation, especially cars and bicycles, is rapidly increasing. Meanwhile, transportation systems in Asian cities are still facing many challenges in lane allocation and establishing reasonable traffic regulations. Recognizing this situation, Ford has launched a new immersive experience called "WheelSwap".

The experience was launched with the aim of changing drivers' behavior and reducing their conflicts while in traffic. Initial studies showed that almost all participants said they would change their behavior after participating in the experience.

The breakthrough of this experience lies in the fact that, through simulated videos, car drivers experience the perspective of a cyclist and face the dangers of sudden turns or opening car doors without looking. Conversely, cyclists, playing the role of car drivers, must handle situations involving sudden turns, thereby understanding how their own daily actions, even the smallest ones, can significantly impact other road users.

With the vision of the “City of Tomorrow” project, Ford’s smart mobility strategy will synchronize vehicles, infrastructure, connectivity models, and digital services to support people in moving around more confidently and comfortably. Simultaneously, Ford is integrating virtual reality technology into its free Ford Driving Skills For Life (DSFL) driver training program for over 15,000 students across 14 provinces and cities in Vietnam.
