Vietnamese seaports are estimated to welcome around 493 cruise voyages in 2018, a 20% increase compared to 2017 (with 407 voyages).

With this impressive growth, Vietnam has risen to 4th place among countries with the highest number of cruise ship arrivals in Asia. Specifically, Chan May port received the most cruises in Vietnam with 159 voyages, followed by Phu My port with 139 voyages, Cai Lan port with 111 voyages, and Nha Trang port with 72 voyages in 2018.

With its long, beautiful coastline and fascinating local culture, Vietnam is considered a promising cruise destination, attracting the attention of foreign tourists who want to explore Vietnam by cruise ship. Vietnam's maritime infrastructure is rapidly developing to meet the growing demand for cruise tourism, enabling it to accommodate larger cruise ships and allowing more vessels to dock at Vietnamese ports during their voyages.

In 2018, Princess Cruises estimated it transported over 80,000 international tourists to Vietnam with 6 cruise ships docking at Phu My, Nha Trang, Da Nang, and Cai Lan ports. The high demand for cruise tourism to Vietnam contributes to the growth of the domestic economy through tourist spending at attractions, shopping, and on food, as well as spending by cruise lines on importing supplies and goods to serve tourists.

Currently, the cruise tourism market in Asia is the fastest-growing in the world, with over 4 million visitors in 2017. It is estimated that by the end of 2018, more than 4.26 million Asian tourists will choose cruise tourism as their vacation destination.

This figure is even more impressive considering that a previous survey indicated that Asia would not reach 4 million cruise tourists until 2020, but in reality, this number could have been achieved in 2018.

According to a World Bank report, the middle class in Vietnam has grown rapidly in recent years, with 1.5 million people joining annually. This rapid growth of the middle class and the increasing wealth of Vietnamese people has fueled a growing demand for luxury overseas travel.

Princess Cruises' fleet of 17 cruise ships will take travelers to 360 destinations around the world with luxurious accommodations, world-class dining and entertainment on board, creating unforgettable memories for Vietnamese travelers seeking a luxurious cruise experience.
