According to statistics from the Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority, the total number of flights that airlines are expected to operate during the peak period of September 2nd (from August 31st to September 5th) is over 5,300 flights with a total of 1.06 million seats, an increase of about 20% compared to the normal period and a slight decrease of 3% compared to the same period in 2022.
As of August 18th, the occupancy rate during the September 2nd holiday period (August 31st - September 5th) on both major and tourist routes remains low, with ample seats still available.
Surveys of online flight ticket booking systems during the National Day holiday on September 2nd show that airfares have remained largely unchanged. There are still many seats available on domestic airlines.
Airfare prices for the September 2nd holiday haven't fluctuated much.
Specifically, for the Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi route on September 1st, Vietjet is selling tickets from 1.6 million VND/one-way. Meanwhile, for the Hanoi - Nha Trang route on the same day, Vietnam Airlines is selling tickets from 2 million VND/one-way. For a Hanoi - Da Nang flight, the round-trip airfare is approximately 3.4 million VND. The price for a Hanoi - Nha Trang flight is around 3.6 million VND, and for a Hanoi - Quy Nhon flight is 4 million VND.
Notably, round-trip airfares from Hanoi to Tuy Hoa (Phu Yen) reached 6.4 million VND, the most expensive during the September 2nd holiday. This is because only Vietnam Airlines is operating this route, as Vietjet Air has ceased flights.
Round-trip airfare (including taxes and fees) from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang averages 3 million VND per ticket. Flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang cost between 2.6 and 2.8 million VND. As the September 2nd holiday approaches, airfares on some routes are even showing a downward trend. For example, VietJet Air is currently offering tickets at 1.62 million VND for the Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi route on September 1st, equivalent to the price of the same route on August 29th.
