Banana Republic’s Fall 2017 collection focuses on handcrafted designs inspired by America’s bustling cities like New York, Detroit, Chicago, and Pittsburgh—and the skilled craftspeople who built and restored these “industrial giants.” The history, architecture, and art of these major cities are carefully researched, including powerful inspirations like Chicago’s famous skyline and stunning landscapes like Detroit’s historic warehouses.
August – The Artist's Soul
Banana Republic's August collection celebrates the beauty of art, the craftsmanship of artisans, and the impact of the transformative power art exhibition taking place in the community. Artists in Pittsburgh and Detroit - who have contributed to the creative revitalization of the urban and economic areas - have inspired the Banana Republic design team. The creative inspiration of the artists here comes from contemporary art exhibitions, street art, and even the extremely impressive flower house in Detroit. And from there, the fall collection was born, focusing mainly on two main colors: olive green and khakis with a creative color mix. In addition, the collection is also inspired by the workwear of artists, combined with floral motifs and skillful artistic motifs; all will create this inspirational August collection.
September – Classical Architecture
The September collection is inspired by the city's architectural changes, in addition, the blending of contrasting elements: meticulous and elaborate, clean but also a bit dusty of an industrial city, majestic but also very restrained is an endless source of inspiration for this collection. The color palette of the September collection focuses on dark colors such as camel, taupe or rust, mixed with a bit of navy blue and prominent blue. The patterns are also inspired by the city's architecture with a focus on stripes, square stripes, lace decorations and floral embroidery to highlight the beauty of each outfit.
October – Rustic Craftsmanship
The October collection is inspired by the work of skilled artisans. From small shops in historic Detroit to large family businesses like Hoeween Leather in Chicago, artisans here pay meticulous attention to every detail, focusing on technique as well as materials; all of which have inspired the unique inspiration for this collection. The garments are carefully tailored down to the last thread and selected from the finest fabrics, combined with floral and plaid patterns along with timeless patterns will be a special highlight for the upcoming October collection.
