Located along the snow-capped mountains of Lebanon, Baatara Cave is a natural limestone cave covering an area of 837 m2was formed in the Jurassic period, about 160 million years ago. Below is a stream flowing over three beautiful waterfalls. This three-bridge waterfall was discovered by Henri Coiffait in 1952 and has since become a world-famous destination.
The best time to visit Baatara Gorge is between March and April, when the glacier melts and flows abundantly down Mount Lebanon, creating a majestic waterfall. Geologists studying the gorge in 1988 discovered a second bridge that may have been created after winter ice broke through a huge block of rock in the abyss. In a fluorescence experiment, they found that after the water flowed down the waterfall, it created an underground spring in the town of Mgharet al-Ghaouaghir.

There are many warning signs posted around the cave to warn visitors not to get too close to the cave entrance as it is quite slippery and can be dangerous if you slip. Photographers and visitors are also warned about the risk of rockslides when too many people cross this natural bridge. Therefore, to ensure safety, visitors can only stand and watch from a distance.
