In the joyous atmosphere of celebrating a golden milestone in the nation's history – the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country – Ho Chi Minh City enthusiastically organized many meaningful activities. One of the most anticipated events for residents and tourists was the high-altitude fireworks display, held in the spacious and picturesque setting of Saigon Riverfront Park, in Thu Thiem Ward, Thu Duc City, on the evening of April 26th.
According to official announcements, this spectacular light show is scheduled from 9:30 PM to 9:40 PM. This is the second fireworks display in a series of special cultural and artistic events prepared by Ho Chi Minh City to celebrate this important holiday. Previously, on the evening of April 19th, city residents and tourists had the opportunity to admire the first dazzling fireworks display at the same location, creating a lasting impression.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country, Ho Chi Minh City launched a high-altitude fireworks display in the Thu Thiem Tunnel area.
Driven by the desire to secure the best vantage points and most impressive views to fully appreciate the dazzling fireworks display, many people planned well in advance. Not only locals, but also tourists from all over the world didn't want to miss the opportunity to admire this unique light show. Businesses providing tourism and culinary services in the vicinity of Bach Dang Wharf, such as upscale restaurants, luxury hotels, romantic cafes, and even double-decker river buses, have seen a surge in bookings. In particular, popular locations with panoramic views offering a complete panorama of the sparkling fireworks in the night sky were almost fully booked well in advance. This further confirms the strong appeal of the event to both locals and tourists.
Many tourists flocked to the city center very early.
From early afternoon, tens of thousands of people, especially young people and tourists, flocked to Nguyen Hue pedestrian street and Ben Bach Dang park. This area was not only an ideal spot to await the spectacular fireworks display, but also the venue for many unique cultural and artistic programs and activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country. The crowds grew larger and larger, immersing themselves in the vibrant festive atmosphere and enjoying memorable moments before the main event.

To ensure security, public order, and traffic safety, and to prevent any potential traffic congestion and complex situations, police forces from the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department were deployed and reinforced across all units and localities starting from the afternoon. In particular, the Traffic Police and Mobile Police deployed large forces and coordinated closely to ensure absolute security and safety for residents and tourists.

At exactly 9 PM, the night sky over the Saigon River suddenly lit up with dazzling fireworks. This magnificent spectacle caused thousands of onlookers to gasp in amazement and delight. Loud applause and endless exclamations of praise blended together to create a special symphony of emotions on this celebratory night. Each burst of fireworks told a story through light and sound. The fiery blossoms bloomed and then slowly faded into the air, leaving behind an ethereal beauty.
Despite the heavy rain earlier, at exactly 9:30 PM, high-altitude fireworks lit up the sky above the Saigon River, amidst the excitement of thousands of people.
This is the second time Ho Chi Minh City has held a fireworks display to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the "Liberation of Southern Vietnam and National Reunification Day," following the first one last Saturday, April 19th.
Among those enjoying the fireworks display, many international tourists expressed surprise and delight at this spectacular artistic performance. The crowds gathered at Bach Dang Wharf and along Nguyen Hue pedestrian street grew increasingly dense as the fireworks began. Despite the jostling, joy and satisfaction shone on everyone's faces as they witnessed these beautiful moments firsthand.
