Accordingly, it is expected that over 45,000 discounted air tickets and package tours with discounts of 20-30% will be offered at the fair. Due to the relatively limited space at the International Exhibition Center (ICE), the total number of booths at this year's fair is estimated at 450, with the participation of over 600 businesses, management agencies, and tourism promotion organizations from 43 provinces and cities nationwide and from 25 countries and territories.

With the theme "Hanoi - A Destination for Vietnamese Tourism," the fair will showcase images, documents, and tourism products of the capital city. VITM 2017's highlight will be the promotion of cooperation between buyer delegations from the US, Japan, and Western Europe with domestic travel businesses, and the organization of an international street food festival aimed at promoting Vietnamese street food and offering the public unique street food experiences from several countries in the region such as Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Japan, and South Korea.

Alongside tourism promotion programs, VITM Hanoi 2017 focused on specialized activities including press conferences introducing products and destinations, conferences, thematic seminars, signing ceremonies for cooperation agreements, and outdoor cultural and artistic activities such as ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) shows and magic performances by art troupes from Hanoi and some art troupes from countries in the region.
