Located in a remote spot in the Aegean Sea, just a few kilometers off the Turkish coast, Kastellorizo Island has successfully vaccinated all its residents against Covid-19, using two doses of the Pfizer vaccine.
Kastellorizo Island
Since last March, there has been only one case of Covid-19 on the island. The Greek government has tried to protect the small islands, which lack large medical facilities, by vaccinating the entire population.
These islands are part of Greece's tourism recovery strategy. All the small and remote islands will be protected from Covid-19 to promote the summer tourist season.

Kastellorizo Island, also known as Castelrosso, was chosen as the setting for Gabriele Salvatores' film "Mediterraneo." The film tells the story of a group of Italian soldiers sent to an isolated Greek island during World War II. It won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1992.
Many travel companies have turned their attention to this pristine island. It is estimated that the number of visitors to the island will increase by approximately 35% this year, according to Ethnos Greece.
The island boasts pristine beauty, with piers, beachfront villas, and turquoise waters.
Although it lacks long stretches of white sandy beaches, Kastellorizo boasts numerous ancient castles and unique caves. Having once been part of the Ottoman Empire, visitors can explore both Greek churches and mosques here.
