Overview of the press conference for the 2017 National Women's Amateur Golf Championship.
According to the organizers' regulations, female golfers participating in the tournament must meet the 2017 Amateur Status Rules as stipulated by R&A Rules Limited. This year's tournament has increased the number of official rounds to three (December 8th, 9th & 10th) for golfers in the lower handicap group to allow them to use their results to participate in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR). Currently, we have two female golfers named on the WAGR ranking: Nguyen Thao My and Hanako Kawasaki. The remaining groups of athletes will only compete in two official rounds on December 9th & 10th.
The athletes will be divided into three competition groups: National Championship Group (Group A) for Vietnamese athletes with a USGA Index handicap not exceeding 16.0 at the time of registration. Group B for athletes with a USGA Index handicap between 16.1 and 25.0 at the time of registration. Group C for athletes with a USGA Index handicap between 25.1 and 36.0 at the time of registration.
The National Championship will be played in a stroke play format over three rounds of 18 holes (total 54 holes). The winner will be the player with the lowest total GROSS score at the end of the tournament. In addition to the three main prizes, golfers ranked from fourth to tenth place will also receive certificates and prizes. To give athletes more opportunities to compete for prizes, the Organizing Committee has also added prizes based on NET scores using the daily Handicap (System 36) on December 9th and 10th, applicable to all three divisions. Each round will be scored separately, and there will be a set of prizes for each day of competition.
To register for the tournament, golfers must fill out the official registration form and send it to the Organizing Committee before 4:00 PM on December 1st, 2017 at the following address: Vietnam Golf Association, 125 Nguyen Son Street, Gia Thuy Ward, Long Bien District, Hanoi.
