15/04/2016

On April 15th in Hanoi, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism held a press conference to introduce the 12th Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair - ITE HCMC 2016, themed "Gateway to Asian Tourism." The fair will take place from September 8th to 10th, 2016, at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), Ho Chi Minh City.

ITE HCMC – an annual event and a key highlight of Vietnam's tourism industry – is an effective trade forum for domestic and international businesses seeking business opportunities in both inbound and outbound tourism markets in Vietnam and the Mekong region. ITE HCMC 2016 was an excellent platform to launch and showcase products and services and gain a better understanding of the regional tourism market.

This year, ITE HCMC is expanding in both quantity and quality, expected to attract 270 booths with the participation of over 60% foreign sellers; attracting 250 international buyers, 20 international press, and 400 sellers (domestic and foreign), and approximately 30,000 visitors to explore and learn more, consolidating its position as one of the most prestigious and fastest-growing international tourism trade forums in the region.

The Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair is increasingly asserting its position as the leading international tourism fair in Vietnam and the Mekong sub-region. "ITE HCMC is an opportunity for countries in the Mekong region such as Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and international organizations to converge in Ho Chi Minh City," stated Mr. Hoang Tuan Anh, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

ITE HCMC 2016 is the most prestigious tourism event in the Mekong region, focusing on meetings between buyers and sellers. The Hosted Buyer Programme will be designed to be attractive and effective in attracting international and regional buyers to the Fair. Buyers will proactively schedule online appointments with sellers one month before the Fair; in addition, international buyers will have the opportunity to explore and experience new tourist routes and destinations in Vietnam after the event, thereby providing a basis for developing unique tourism products for the international tourist market.

Over the three days, the event is expected to include the following programs and activities: Opening Ceremony - Gala Dinner (Vietnam Night); Mekong Tourism Alliance Awards (MTAA) ceremony; Destination presentation workshop for buyers; ACMECS Responsible Tourism Forum; Travel Fun Fair Day; and Workshop on key international tourist markets.
