The reason given is that Hue is entering the rainy season, making the program difficult to implement. There is currently no information on when the Imperial Citadel will reopen for nighttime visits.

The Hue Imperial Citadel will begin welcoming visitors at night from April 22nd. From 7 PM to 10 PM, visitors can witness the dazzling beauty of the Hue Imperial Palace at night; learn about ancient court rituals such as the Changing of the Guard ceremony; enjoy Hue court music, court dances, and games; and watch performances such as the imperial guards practicing martial arts. The ticket price for the night tour is the same as the daytime price, uniform for both Vietnamese and foreign visitors, at 150,000 VND per person. Each evening, the Royal Palace Night Tour welcomes 4,000 to 9,000 visitors.
Currently, a project to illuminate the Hue Citadel has been proposed to the Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee to attract tourists. According to the proposal, 1,000 LED lights will be installed around the citadel to illuminate the architectural structure from 6 PM to 2 AM daily. If approved, the project is expected to be completed by the end of December and will connect the citadel area with the Ngo Mon Gate.
