Metropole Hotel Hanoi welcomes its new General Manager.

Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi has appointed William J. Haandrikman, a veteran of the hotel industry, as its General Manager, overseeing all Accor hotels in the northern region. Prior to this appointment, William J. Haandrikman served as General Manager of Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit in Thailand.

 

Having joined the Accor Group in 1992, Mr. Haandrikman brings 25 years of experience in hotel management to Hanoi. He officially assumed the role of General Manager of the Metropole Hanoi Hotel this June.

 

Since joining the French hotel group, Mr. Haandrikman has held senior management positions at leading hotels in Amsterdam, Brussels, New York, and Moscow, as well as Sofitel-branded hotels in The Hague (Netherlands), Paris (France), Vienna (Austria), Shanghai (China), and most recently Bangkok (Thailand).

 

 

During his time in Bangkok, Mr. Haandrikman served as the general manager of two AccorHotels properties, including the 345-room Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit. Under his management, the Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit was considered one of the best five-star hotels in Thailand. A Dutch national, he also oversaw the opening and management of the prestigious Sofitel Vienna Stephansdom in Austria and the renowned Sofitel Paris Defense in France.

 

Haandrikman graduated from Glion University's Hotel School in the Netherlands, the Executive Management program at ESSEC, and the Executive Management program at Cornell Business School in the United States.

 

Mr. Haandrikman shared: “Vietnam is one of the fastest-growing markets in Asia. I look forward to integrating with Metropole Hanoi and contributing to maintaining the hotel's inherent values, further building Metropole's reputation as one of Asia's leading hotels.”

 

This June, Vietnam's most acclaimed hotel also welcomed a new Deputy General Manager. Joseph Colina hails from Washington, where he served as Managing Director at the Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square Hotel.

Colina has over 10 years of experience in leading hotels worldwide. A U.S. citizen, he began his career as Director of Customer Service at the Sofitel Minneapolis in 2005, and subsequently as Director of Customer Service at the Sofitel Chicago Water Tower and Director of Accommodation at the Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square.

Opened in 1901, the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi is renowned as the esteemed Lady of the hotel industry in Vietnam and one of Asia's benchmark hotels. In 2009, Metropole Hanoi became the first Sofitel-branded hotel to be included in Accor's Legend Hotel group.
