The scorching weather, with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, made the atmosphere at the Lao Cai international border gate stifling. Numerous tourists struggled to queue from early morning, constantly pleading for water to alleviate their thirst.
Although customs clearance procedures at the Lao Cai International Border Gate only begin at 7:00 AM, long lines of Vietnamese tourists had already formed from around 5:30 to 6:00 AM. Fortunately, no crowding occurred during this process.

That morning, many tourists had to wait for hours to complete the procedures to cross into China at the Lao Cai international border gate. To help customers exit the country early, businesses requested customers to arrive 1.5-2 hours before opening time. Tour guides had to stay up almost all night to reserve places and guide tourists.
The Border Guard Station at the Lao Cai International Border Gate and the Lao Cai Border Gate Border Guard Post reported a sudden surge in visitors during this holiday period compared to previous years. Therefore, they have reinforced their forces and set up additional checkpoints to facilitate the departure process for tourists as conveniently as possible.
Tourists do not need to apply for a visa; they only need to obtain a travel permit at a cost of a few hundred thousand dong and participate in all-inclusive tours priced from 3.5 to 7 million dong, depending on the length of the trip.
According to statistics from the authorities, between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM on April 27th, approximately 2,000 tourists crossed the border into China at the Lao Cai International Border Gate.
The number of tourists departing through this border gate during the April 30th - May 1st holiday this year increased 1.5 times compared to the same period last year. To ensure security and order, the authorities have implemented appropriate plans, ensuring all conditions are met so that tourists can clear customs quickly, conveniently, and safely in accordance with regulations.
