Vietnamese tourists queue for 4 hours at the border gate to travel to China

Thousands of people flocked to Lao Cai border gate, hoping to have the opportunity to visit China. However, they had to line up early, even from dawn, but still had to wait about 4 hours, double the usual waiting time on normal days.

The hot weather with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius has made the atmosphere at Lao Cai international border gate become stifling. Many tourists had to struggle to line up early, constantly begging for water to reduce their thirst.

That morning, many tourists had to wait for hours to complete procedures to go to China at Lao Cai international border gate. To help customers leave the country early, businesses asked customers to arrive 1.5-2 hours earlier than opening time. Tour guides had to stay up almost all night to reserve seats and guide tourists.

The International Border Guard Station and Lao Cai Border Guard Station said that the number of visitors during this holiday season has increased dramatically compared to previous years. Therefore, they have increased their forces and arranged more check-in booths to serve tourists leaving the country as conveniently as possible.

Tourists do not need to apply for a visa, they just need to get a passport which costs from a few hundred thousand VND and join package tours which cost from 3.5 to 7 million VND, depending on the short or long travel itinerary.

According to statistics from authorities, between 7am and 9am on April 27, there were about 2,000 tourists leaving for China at Lao Cai International Border Gate.

The number of tourists leaving the country at this border gate during the April 30 - May 1 holiday this year increased 1.5 times compared to the same period last year. To ensure security and order, the authorities have implemented appropriate plans, ensuring all conditions for tourists to be able to clear customs quickly, conveniently and safely according to regulations.
