The exhibition features 187 works by 184 artists from 9 provinces, including Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, and Khanh Hoa.
The artists used various materials such as oil paint, lacquer, silk, acrylic, bronze, wood, etc., to create paintings. They also used wooden sculptures, stone sculptures, metal sculptures, composite materials, colored wood carvings, black and white wood carvings, and propaganda posters to create sculptures and graphic art.
Through their works, the authors have introduced viewers to the diverse activities and practices of people and ethnic groups in the highlands and coastal plains; images of the spiritual life of the ethnic minorities in the Central Highlands and coastal regions. In addition, the theme of the sea and islands has been explored from many different angles, contributing to the defense of the Fatherland and demonstrating the artist's responsibility on the ideological and cultural front.
According to artist Tran Khanh Chuong, President of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, the works were created from June 2013 to June 2014, showcasing a diverse range of materials and artistic languages. Many traditional and modern materials were judiciously used by the artists to create high-quality works. The artists explored and innovated in brushwork and composition, resulting in works imbued with genuine, simple, and evocative emotions. Many works, quite large in size and made with durable materials, left a strong impression on viewers.
The Art Council awarded eight prizes at the Regional Fine Arts Exhibition, including one A prize, one B prize, one B prize, and five consolation prizes.
