To celebrate Air New Zealand's first direct flight connecting Auckland and Ho Chi Minh City this coming June, the competition is calling on contestants to create pictures, posters and slogans to promote New Zealand tourism in Vietnam.
In recent years, tourism has become one of New Zealand’s key industries. New Zealand’s national tourism promotion campaign, “100% Pure New Zealand,” and tourism marketing tied to a series of famous films shot in New Zealand, such as The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, have helped make the country a popular destination for many tourists around the world. Every year, 30,000 New Zealanders visit Vietnam, but the number of Vietnamese people visiting New Zealand remains modest.
The “New Zealand – New Horizons” competition aims to inspire and raise awareness about travel in New Zealand, its beautiful landscapes, challenging adventure tourism industry, famous film locations inherited from blockbuster films such as The Hobbits and Lord of the Rings, as well as its unique culture and world-class food and wine industry.
“Tourism connections play an important role in the overall relationship between our two countries,” explained New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Haike Manning. “Tourism is an important sector in the economies of New Zealand and Vietnam. However, from a broader perspective of our diplomatic relationship, tourism has many other important impacts, such as increasing cultural awareness and understanding, as well as enhancing educational cooperation. Air New Zealand’s direct flights between Auckland and Ho Chi Minh City in June are a great opportunity for both countries.”
The “New Zealand – New Horizons” competition is an opportunity for Vietnamese people to share their ideas about New Zealand and how to create an image of New Zealand in the eyes of tourists from Vietnam. Great prizes, including direct flights to New Zealand for two, are waiting for you,” said Ambassador Manning.
