To celebrate Air New Zealand's first direct flight connecting Auckland and Ho Chi Minh City this coming June, the contest is calling for participants to create artwork, graphics (posters), and slogans promoting New Zealand tourism in Vietnam.
In recent years, tourism has become one of New Zealand's leading industries. New Zealand's national tourism campaign, "100% Pure New Zealand," and its marketing efforts linked to popular films shot in New Zealand, such as The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, have helped make the country a popular destination for tourists worldwide. While approximately 30,000 New Zealanders visit Vietnam annually, the number of Vietnamese people visiting New Zealand remains relatively modest.
The “New Zealand – New Horizons” competition aims to inspire and raise awareness about tourism in New Zealand, its beautiful scenery, challenging adventure tourism industry, famous film locations from blockbuster movies like The Hobbits and Lord of the Rings, as well as its unique culture and world-class cuisine and wine.
“Tourism connections play a vital role in the overall relationship between our two countries,” explained the New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Haike Manning. “Tourism is a key sector in the economies of both New Zealand and Vietnam. However, from a broader perspective of our diplomatic relations, tourism has many other important impacts, such as increasing cultural awareness and understanding, as well as strengthening educational cooperation. The Air New Zealand direct flight between Auckland and Ho Chi Minh City this coming June is a great opportunity for both countries.”
The “New Zealand – New Horizons” contest is an opportunity for Vietnamese people to share their concepts of New Zealand and how to shape the image of New Zealand in the eyes of Vietnamese tourists. Great prizes, including a direct flight to New Zealand for two, await you,” Ambassador Manning said.
