The film tells the story of Kyle Moore. Due to his parents' separation, Kyle Moore had to move with his mother to a very strange and far away city and school in Connecticut. With his appearance, the way he dressed, his hairstyle and the way he carried his skateboard everywhere, he made people discriminate and was the target of teasing by the bullies in school.
While fixing his broken phone after a prank, Kyle is given a phone by a mysterious bearded man with a strange app called YOUniverse. Thanks to this app, the boy can have anything he wants, including fame, a girlfriend, friends, and even the ability to play hockey and sing and dance like a superstar, until the app goes haywire, giving Kyle unexpected things and even making the young man no longer himself.
Kyle's journey of self-discovery really begins when he wants to return to his old self, as well as trying to fix the mistakes and pain he has caused to his relatives and friends. But will he succeed without the help of the "Magic App"?
A familiar message but never old
High school years are supposed to be the best years of one's life, but sometimes, they can also be the hardest.Miraculous application (original title:Status Update) reflects the reality of social media today, especially in the high school environment. Many young people define their self-worth by the number of followers or likes. Fame is only a few thousand clicks away. But what they post on social media also has certain consequences.
Kyle, the main character in the film, learned two important lessons. First, through the filter of virtual social media, everyone looks perfect, but without this filter, no one is. The second lesson is to live your own life and not depend on the illusions of others.
Miraculous application is expected to be released in 86 theaters nationwide on April 6, 2018.
