In recent years, Vietnamese audiences have been treated to a series of visually stunning blockbusters; however, films aimed at teenagers and school-aged children have become less common. Kicking off this year's vibrant summer, Status Update promises to bring a fresh atmosphere to young audiences, especially students, through a meaningful and emotional story filled with refreshing laughter, crafted by director Scott Speer (Step Up Revolution), along with the producers of the popular Step Up series and the screenwriter of the hit teen drama 17 Again.

The film tells the story of Kyle Moore. Due to his parents' separation, Kyle Moore moves with his mother to a new city and a new, unfamiliar school in Connecticut. Because of his appearance, clothing style, hairstyle, and the fact that he always carries his skateboard, he becomes the target of ridicule and teasing from the school's bullies.

While getting his broken phone repaired after being the result of a prank, Kyle is given a phone by a mysterious bearded man with a strange app called YOUniverse. Thanks to this app, the boy can have any wish granted, including fame, a girlfriend, friends, and even hockey and singing/dancing skills like a superstar, until the app malfunctions, bringing Kyle unexpected things and even causing the young man to lose himself.

Kyle's journey of self-discovery truly begins when he wants to return to his old self, and tries to make amends for the mistakes and hurt he has caused his family and friends. But will he succeed without the help of the "miracle app"?
