'Utopia architecture' from Italy in Hanoi

02/02/2015

From February 6th to March 2nd, 2015, at Casa Italia (18 Le Phung Hieu, Hanoi), the "Utopia Architecture" exhibition, part of the Italy-Vietnam 2015 program, will present to the public 10 panels showcasing architectural works from various studios selected by MAXXI Architecture.

MAXXI – National Museum of 21st Century Art is the national museum of contemporary art and architecture in Rome, founded and managed by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage. The museum is a multidisciplinary space designed by Zaha Hadid, aiming for experimentation and innovation in art and architecture. MAXXI Architecture (the section dedicated to architecture) is Italy's first national museum of architecture.

The exhibition's collection of images showcases the most prominent examples of "new" Italian architectural styles, presented along three parallel lines: author, project, and theme. Introducing the authors and their biographies provides an overview of Italian architectural training and how they are integrating more seamlessly into global cultural and professional contexts today than in the final decades of the 20th century.

The project exhibition aims to highlight some truly outstanding models, often undertaken at the request of individual and institutional client groups. The third direction describes a renewed interest in topics related to the most recent research ideas, such as expressionism, society, science, technology, and environmental innovation.

The connections between the points mentioned above allow you to identify some of the most interesting Italian architects and provide a comprehensive view of the skyline of a rapidly developing world.

The specific issues addressed in the exhibition include the environment and sustainable development, integration with new technologies, public spaces and the relationship between the lives of old and new communities, attitudes towards recycling existing structures, the quality of the landscape (urban and rural), quality and innovation in housing projects, and the relationship with historical monuments.

The exhibition will open at 6 PM on February 6th and close on March 2nd at 18 Le Phung Hieu Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi.
