"Leisurely" holidays at tourist destinations: Heat makes tourists wary?

30/04/2024

Over the past 10 years, there has never been a year in all three regions during the April 30 - May 1 holiday period like this year when temperatures nearly reached 40 degrees Celsius at some tourist destinations, especially in coastal areas. The impact of the weather has made many tourist destinations deserted, not as crowded with tourists as before.

The hot weather during the recent holidays has caused the number of tourists to tourist attractions across the country to decrease significantly compared to previous years.

According to the authorities, the number of tourists to famous tourist destinations such as Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc,... decreased from 30% to 50% compared to the same period last year.

Some tourist spots were strangely deserted, with some even having no visitors during the holiday period. The main reason for the decrease in visitors is believed to be the hot weather, which has made tourists reluctant to go out, especially to participate in outdoor tourism activities.

The hot weather during the holidays has caused a decrease in the number of tourists visiting tourist attractions across the country.

During the first two days of the holiday, the temperature in Hoi An city reached a high of 39 degrees Celsius, with bright sunlight from morning to afternoon. Due to the harsh weather conditions, the old town became deserted with few visitors. However, when the sun gradually set, around 5 pm, the air became cooler, an ideal time for tourists to flock to the streets, enjoying the historical and cultural space of the city.

Khanh Hoa Province Department of Tourism estimates that during the 5-day holiday of April 30 and May 1, the total number of visitors is estimated to reach 800,000. The number of visitors to beach resorts during the first two days of winter holidays has not yet reached its peak, and is expected to be the busiest on April 29.

The Department of Health Environment Management recommends limiting going out in the sun on hot days, especially between 10am and 4pm to ensure safety and health while enjoying the holiday.
