The intensely hot weather during the recent holidays has led to a significant decrease in the number of tourists visiting attractions across the country compared to previous years.
According to authorities, the number of tourists visiting popular destinations such as Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Phu Quoc has decreased by 30% to 50% compared to the same period last year.
Some tourist destinations were eerily deserted, with some places completely devoid of visitors throughout the holiday period. The main reason for the drop in visitor numbers is believed to be the hot weather, which discouraged tourists from going outside, especially for outdoor activities.
The scorching hot weather during the holidays caused a decrease in the number of tourists visiting attractions across the country.
During the first two days of the holiday, temperatures in Hoi An reached a high of 39 degrees Celsius, with scorching sunshine from morning to evening. Due to the harsh weather conditions, the ancient town was deserted with few tourists visiting. However, as the sun set, around 5 PM, the air became cooler, making it the ideal time for tourists to flock to the streets and enjoy the city's rich history and culture.
The Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Tourism estimates that during the 5-day holiday period of April 30th and May 1st, the total number of tourists will reach 800,000. The number of visitors to coastal tourist areas during the first two days of the winter holiday has not yet peaked, with the highest expected date being April 29th.
The Department of Environmental Health Management recommends limiting outdoor exposure to the sun during hot days, especially between 10 am and 4 pm, to ensure safety and health while enjoying the holiday.
