Speaking at the 230th anniversary of France's National Day, Mr. Vincent Floreani, Consul General of France in Ho Chi Minh City, was pleased to see that the France-Vietnam relationship has been strongly strengthened at the European, bilateral and local levels. At the European level, the European Union (EU) - Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) signed at the end of June will allow for the gradual removal of import taxes. France, as well as other European partners, expect a strong breakthrough in trade exchange between Europe and Vietnam in general and Europe and Ho Chi Minh City in particular.

Also at the ceremony, Mr. Le Thanh Liem, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, highly appreciated the strong development of bilateral relations in recent times. Specifically, the two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and France in 2018 reached 5.1 billion USD. The signing of the Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) will be a solid foundation for economic development and create many cooperation opportunities for businesses of the two countries.

In Ho Chi Minh City, relations with France have also been strengthened in all fields: economy, culture, tourism, education... In recent times, many French business delegations have visited Ho Chi Minh City, including a French delegation in the aviation sector. During this working trip, French businesses had the opportunity to introduce their strengths in the field of air transport and were especially interested in cooperating in the projects: expansion of Tan Son Nhat airport (Ho Chi Minh City) and the project to completely rebuild Long Thanh airport (Dong Nai).
