Over 300 varieties of roses, characteristic of Bulgaria and around the world, will be showcased at the first Bulgarian Rose Festival in Hanoi. This is considered the largest Bulgarian Rose Festival ever held abroad.

At a press conference on the afternoon of February 7th introducing the "Bulgarian Rose Festival and Friends," the Bulgarian Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Evgueni Stoychev, announced that for the first time, the traditional rose festival of Bulgaria will be held in Vietnam. The event will take place from Bulgaria's National Day on March 3rd to International Women's Day on March 8th.

The festival will bring together more than 300 varieties of roses, representing rose species from around the world, including purebred European and Bulgarian roses, transforming Thong Nhat Island in Thong Nhat Park in Hanoi into a rose paradise.

At the festival, visitors will be able to admire the "Rose Island," covering an area of 6,000 square meters, featuring artistic masterpieces of roses such as the Castle of Love, the Wall of Romance, the Garden of Love Roses, and the Ancient Wishing Well.

According to Daniel Dobrev, Commercial Counselor of the Bulgarian Embassy, the festival also showcases the finest rose-inspired cuisine from Bulgaria, unique rose-themed souvenirs, and products made from rose essential oil. Mr. Dobrev hopes this event will be held annually in Vietnam.

At the opening ceremony of the rose festival, Bulgaria will present its rarest rose varieties to Hanoi.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Lien, head of the festival organizing committee, said that the committee will coordinate with the security forces of Thong Nhat Park, the Hai Ba Trung district police, and a professional security company to ensure security.

He hopes the event will attract around 10,000-20,000 attendees. The organizers will issue and control tickets daily, with tickets sold at the festival entrance. If the number of visitors at the festival becomes too high at any given time, ticket sales will be stopped until the crowd thins out to ensure visitor safety.

He also said that many Vietnamese and international artisans have volunteered to contribute roses to the festival, especially one foreign artisan who contributed 300 roses from all over the world, preserved in cold boxes, which can be kept for 5 years.

This is a long-standing traditional Bulgarian festival, held since 1903, and has become an event that attracts millions of tourists worldwide. Vietnam is not the first country outside of Bulgaria to host the festival, but it is the place where it is held on the largest scale.
