What is living space and how are we sharing it with each other? How do we accept strangers and cultural differences? The dancers and musicians in "The Twisting of the City" will "coexist" within transparent spheres, like the tumors of the modern city, where people are increasingly confined. The dance performance raises issues related to the intermingling of cultures as well as the dream of a better world.

Created by artists Pierre Larauza and Emmanuelle Vincent, Urban Distortions was performed at the 2010 Avignon Festival. Since then, the dance piece has been presented to audiences in many countries around the world through ongoing touring programs, from Washington to Hong Kong, Tallinn, and Lisbon.
In each country, artistic directors Pierre Larauza and Emmanuelle Vincent collaborate with a local musician or dancer to realize the idea of cultural exchange. Therefore, each performance brings a unique character to the dance piece.
Featuring artists from France, Belgium, and Vietnam, the performance of Urban Distortions at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House is a truly unique production. Multiple art forms, including dance, video, music, and visual arts, are combined to create a poetic tapestry throughout the evening.
Through performances by dancers from the Transitscape troupe and guest artist Do Xuyen Nhu, the audience will enjoy contemporary dance combined with traditional dances from Vietnam and Africa.
Vietnamese hip-hop queen Suboi and talented young musician Teddy Chilla will contribute to the show with unique music, composed and performed live on stage by themselves.
The performance is also incredibly engaging thanks to its aesthetically pleasing stage design. With large spheres on stage, the audience can imagine them resembling water droplets or giant blocks of glass. In addition, artist Thy Nguyen Truong Minh will paint and project live images related to the changes currently taking place in major cities.
