The Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ technology, EDITION ONE (abbreviated as Mercedes-Benz G 580 EQ EDITION ONE), has officially been brought to the Vietnamese market by the German automaker. This first all-electric model of the legendary G-Class marks a new milestone, ushering off-road experiences in Vietnam into the electric era and opening up possibilities to challenge the limits for car enthusiasts nationwide.
Currently, there are only two Mercedes-Benz G 580s with EQ technology in the Vietnamese market, both belonging to the limited EDITION ONE version. With this addition, the G-Class in Vietnam will have two options: the Mercedes-AMG G 63 and the Mercedes-Benz G 580 EQ.

In this launch, the legendary off-road icon of Mercedes-Benz is once again elevated to a new level of performance with an advanced powertrain system featuring four independently controlled electric motors for each wheel. Furthermore, the G 580 EQ maintains its long-standing legendary image by retaining the familiar angular design and embodying the original characteristics of the 'Geländewagen' line that we are always proud of.”
The Mercedes-Benz G 580 EQ Edition One is showcased in the luxurious, world-class setting of The Global City – considered the new center of Ho Chi Minh City – An Phu Ward, District 2, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City.
G-Class - A legend for over 45 years
First introduced in 1979, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class is not just a luxury SUV, but also an icon of strength, durability, and class. With over 45 years of history, the G-Class has transcended all boundaries to become a true legend in the automotive industry, captivating car enthusiasts worldwide, including customers in Vietnam.
An interesting fact is that G-Class models are still largely handcrafted by the most experienced engineers. Perhaps that's why, throughout the 45-year history of this legendary vehicle line, approximately 80% of the models produced are still in use on the road.
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, also known as the "G-Wagen" (Geländewagen), was initially developed as a military vehicle. However, with its boxy design, powerful performance, and unparalleled luxury, the G-Class quickly became popular and one of the most luxurious off-road vehicles in the world.
With its body-on-frame chassis and all-wheel drive, the G-Class offers impressive off-road capabilities, allowing it to easily conquer even the most challenging terrains. The combination of traditional engineering power and modern technology has helped the G-Class maintain its iconic status for over four decades.
Despite undergoing numerous upgrades and improvements over more than 45 years, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class has maintained its distinctive DNA. Recent versions are equipped with advanced technologies such as the MBUX infotainment system, intelligent off-road driving modes, and top-of-the-line safety features. However, its characteristic boxy design and powerful off-road capabilities remain intact.
The G 580 EQ Edition One is the first all-electric limited edition of the G-Class, marking a significant milestone and ushering off-road experiences in Vietnam into the electric era. Mercedes-Benz tested the G 580 EQ under a variety of conditions – from rough, slippery, and flooded terrain to ice, snow, and sand; from temperatures above 50°C in the African desert to below -30°C in the icy regions of Sweden – to ensure that this electric version maintains the G-Class's reputation for off-road capability while taking advantage of the electric powertrain. These tests showed that the vehicle is not only powerful on paved roads but also excels in challenging off-road situations.

- The optional Black Panel grille provides a modern look while remaining true to the G-Class heritage.

The G 580 EQ is not just an electric G-Class, but a significant leap forward in off-road capability. With four independent electric motors producing a total output of 432 kW (587 hp) and torque of up to 1,164 Nm, this model delivers an unprecedented driving experience:
- The G-TURN mode allows for a 360-degree turn in place on soft or uneven terrain.
- The G-STEERING mode significantly reduces the turning radius when driving off-road.
- The Off-road Crawl function works similarly to the cruise control system but is specifically designed for rough terrain.

The 116 kWh lithium-ion battery is integrated into the chassis, resulting in a lower center of gravity and providing a driving range of 434-473 km (WLTP) – an impressive figure for a purely electric off-road vehicle.
