On September 28th, the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee announced that it had approved the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize the Pink Grass Festival at Dan Kia - Suoi Vang Lake (Ward 7, Da Lat) and Lac Duong town (Lac Duong district).
According to Mr. Nguyen Vu Hoang, Director of the Lam Dong Provincial Cultural Center, in recent years, whenever the pink grass blooms, photographers and young people eagerly flock to Da Lat to admire and take pictures… They even organize camping trips to “hunt” for impressive moments when the first light of day shines on the dew-covered grass hills or when the sunset changes the “clothes” of the vast grass carpet…
This year, the Center for Innovation is organizing the Pink Grass Festival with many attractive programs such as the Pink Grass Photo Contest for clubs and professional photographers; and the "Selfie Moment" contest for young people who like to take selfies with their phones (the Organizing Committee will receive, select, and award prizes at the end of the day).
The "Prairie Horse Racing" (riding horses without saddles) competition offers prizes for tourists; the "Lach People's Night" indigenous cultural festival recreates the harvest festival of the Lach people with activities such as gong performances, traditional dances, and rice wine tasting...
The "Welcoming the Moon on the Pink Grass Hill" program features scenes depicting the legend of the Pink Grass, a lantern procession of love on the hill, grass rings for lovers, releasing wish lanterns, and a fireworks display.
Additionally, there is a camping event called "Prairie Night" organized on the pine hill in front of the pink grass hill. Participants are guests who have booked tours through travel agencies.
Mr. Vu Hoang believes that the Pink Grass Festival will be a new tourism product to introduce to a large number of tourists the beautiful grass that forms a vibrant pink carpet in Da Lat city and the neighboring Lac Duong district every November and December.
