The sound of the love flute often rises from the high mountain peaks (Archive photo).
The sound of the Hmong flute is like a heartfelt confession; the flute is like a close friend to Hmong men as they go to the forest, to the market, and especially when meeting their lovers. Each time the flute is played, the young man is sending a message of love or gratitude to the deceased. Hearing the Hmong flute rising from the high mountain peaks evokes a sense of longing, love, and the soul of the Hmong people in the high mountains.
It's fantastic! The 2018 Hmong Flute Festival, with its main activities including competitions in traditional sports and Hmong flute dances by 17 ethnic groups from 19 communes and districts, will be held on April 28th and 29th, 2018, before the Marathon race on the Ma Pi Leng Pass - King of Passes - Happiness Road on April 30th, 2018.
