According to surveys on airline websites, airfares for domestic routes during the September 2nd holiday are quite high, 1.5-2 times higher than usual, and the closer it gets to the holiday, the more expensive airfares become.
On the Hanoi - Nha Trang route, airfares have also increased sharply. Round-trip tickets (including taxes and fees) on Vietnam Airlines cost from 3.0-4.8 million VND/ticket in economy class and 5.4-13.2 million VND/ticket in economy class. Round-trip tickets on Vietjet Air cost over 2.5-3.0 million VND/ticket in economy class.
Domestic airfares have skyrocketed, while international tour packages are equally expensive.
The skyrocketing domestic airfares have caused significant fluctuations in the tourism market during the September 2nd holiday. While domestic tours face upward price pressure, international tours, especially to nearby destinations with reasonable costs, have become more attractive than ever thanks to various promotional policies. This shows that tourists are increasingly seeking new and more affordable experiences.
According to several surveys, the booking rate for the agency has reached 92% of the expected capacity. The most popular domestic tours are to Phu Quoc and Central Vietnam, with 3 days averaging 3.7 million VND per person. In addition, the Northwest region is preparing for the rice harvest season, and tours to this area are also attracting a considerable number of customers. The price for a 6-day all-inclusive tour to the Northwest is currently 9.2 million VND.
In addition, the company's tours to Northern Europe, Dubai, and Thailand for the September 2nd holiday are completely booked, while the Malaysia-Singapore combined tour is over 50% full. Sales of domestic tours remain slow due to many tourists' tendency to book close to the departure date. Da Lat, Nha Trang, and Phan Thiet are currently popular tourist destinations.
Domestic tours are no longer attractive to tourists, largely due to the high cost of airfare.
The most popular overseas tours during the September 2nd holiday are to Taiwan, China, South Korea, and Thailand. Newly emerging Southeast Asian tours such as those to Cambodia and Laos are also attracting tourists because these routes are not too long (4-5 days), the tour prices are average, and autumn is an ideal time to explore these destinations (Laos, Cambodia) due to the cool weather and beautiful scenery.
In anticipation of a surge in tourist numbers during the National Day holiday on September 2nd, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism advises tourists to carefully research information about tour packages, especially tour programs and hotel accommodations, and to choose tourism service providers that meet all legal requirements.
