According to information from the Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority, the peak of the April 30th and May 1st holiday period is just a few days away. Flights from the two major cities, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, to other localities are experiencing high booking rates, with some destinations already fully booked.
Based on the booking statistics of Vietnamese airlines on domestic routes during the April 30th - May 1st holiday period, as of April 19th, one week before the holiday begins, a clear trend of "pushback" in air travel during peak periods and holidays has emerged.
Dien Bien is not just a historical destination.
On flights from other provinces to Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City, the booking rate during the early part of the holiday period is at an average level, fluctuating around 50%; some routes have higher rates, such as Hai Phong-Ho Chi Minh City, Dien Bien, Dien Bien-Hanoi, Da Lat-Hanoi…
With April 29th being the middle of the holiday period, booking rates haven't shown any significant increase or fluctuation on domestic routes, currently mostly fluctuating between 30% and 50%. Passengers still have many suitable flight options on this day.
To meet the travel needs of the people, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has requested Vietnamese airlines to implement several measures such as finding and supplementing aircraft through short-term wet leasing; extending the operating hours of the aircraft fleet, especially increasing operations during evening and nighttime hours; increasing operating time and shortening aircraft turnaround time; and increasing the use of wide-body aircraft to provide more seating for passengers.
